"Nothing like watching the sun set on a winters day..."
When Ky'lan was very young, his mother was killed in an accident. His mothers family was very wealthy and influential and despite Ky'Lans father being very capable of raising his son they insisted on taking him in. Before they could use their wealth and influence to get custody of Ky'Lan his father took him and fled the planet via gemstones. Eventually he found himself on the planet Earth.
There he raised his son in the frozen North. Hence Ky'Lan has been raised primarily on Earth in the region known as Tokotna, the seldom occasions he is in public he is often in the company of those who do not care about his origin or appearances, the frozen north being a place where how well behaved your tokotas are is more important then how you look.
Sometimes he thinks about making the journey to Ditee-ath and learning more about his home planet.

History
When Ky'Lan was young, his mother was killed in an accident, her wealthy parents, Ky'Lans grandparents) attempted to seize custody of him, always believing their daughters mate beneath their families notice. Ky'Lans father fled the planet via gemstones, knowing no matter where he fled on Ditee-ath they would eventually be found.
Earth
Eventually they settled in the far north of Earth in a land called tokotna. It was frigid an harsh, but his farmer background allowed him to sell some "gemstones"and use the funds to buy land. He raised Ky'Lan as a farmer/hunter/forager. Ky'Lans father made annual trips back to their home planet to check on the state of things but never allowed Ky'lan to go. On one such trip, he came back with an orphan who became Ky'Lans little brother.
All Grown Up
As an adult, Ky'lan runs the ranch with his little brother, his father having suffered an injury while out hunting large game and never recovered when Ky'Lan was 25. Sometimes Ky'Lan wonders what his home planet is like, and thinks about one day visiting. Growing up in the northlands of earth he has not been exposed to many individuals, and wonders what his kind are like aside from the stories of his viscious grandparents. He daydreams of going one day and having an amazing adventure where he meets his mates, his brother thinks its hilarious...
