Always seen as somewhat of a prodigy, her father trained her to become the next leader of Shadowclan. Nighthawk herself isn't interested in that position all that much. She is loyal and hardworking and would be proud to serve her clan as leader but she also adores her mentor and doesn't mind not being in the spotlight. 

She finds a good friend in Sparkflight from Thunderclan who is revealed to be her half-brother.
