Michirou Batts

michi is nothing if not well-meaning. he's sweet, and always looking out for those around him. very much the kind of guy with a bleeding heart. this occasionally backfires, but he hasn't let that put him down. he wants to take care of others, and is desperate to those around him safe and happy.

this has lead to a shocking amount of stress in the form of his younger sister. he has done everything he can for her, his whole life- but she started to run off. he started dipping into his family's funds, scraping little bits off the top in order to pay out to a few important people in the city's... less than desirable occupations, trying to keep tabs on her. this settled on him using money and outside influence to herd her into working alongside the monarchs. if he could keep watch like this- fund whatever the group needed in exchange for her wellbeing- well, so be it.

the leader of the group, butterfly, caught his eye for a while. he had to interact with the man directly, to get to know who he was essentially trusting with his sister's life. they both cared for others almost to a fault; and michi trusted him quickly. as soon as kioko found out what had been going on, he stopped hiding. he would openly visit the apartment that the group worked out of, meeting up with butterfly and discussing the placement of funds.

the relationship has changed a bit in recent years, and so has the way he's funding the group. he still pays for things they may need if it comes up, but he recently took over the responsbility of the shared apartment. the previous person funding the place wasn't able to anymore.

at least, that's what he tells himself. that he simply ran out of money. michirou doesn't like thinking about the darker parts of the work he's helping to fund. he doesn't want to look at the stains on clothing or weapons or wounds. in his mind, organized crime is no more than an excuse to make a new family. if he mostly pretends the danger isn't there- then surely, nothing bad will happen.
