He's got a little bit of an ego, but that doesn't stop him from doing what he wants. He's a bit of a bully, as well, and lives his life being melancholy... 

He believes he's been destined to be a "comedian, or daredevil or somethin.." and goes out of his way to do things to make people laugh when he has the chance.  Good or not. Whether it includes embarassing himself or others, as long as it gets the end result.
