Soooo you know when you're drunk, and a frustrated tiny gay transman stuck at home and your parents are NOT OK with queer people, and you're taking welding classes an hour outside the city in the middle of goddamn nowhere so plaid and the Dean Winchester haircut are the only thing between you and the much bigger than you very conservative men who are your classmates, and your friend is starting a D&D campaign, so you make an incredibly gay and incredibly angry flaming man with an incredibly nice ass? Yeah.... anyways, his original last name was 'Fág' but I'm a little less drunk and a little less angry nowadays so I decided to err on the side of caution when it comes to slurs and not put that in the title.
Brand is.... not great with people. When he was younger quick to fuck and quick to fight, but now he just keeps talking and all the words that come out of his mouth are the wrong ones. Years ago he ruined his army career by kneeing the wrong person in the balls and only managed to escape with his life because his best friend ordered him to run and stalled for time for him. Brand realized his life had probably been spiraling and hurting those around him, so he tried to do that hero thing where you go live in the woods and train to make up for all your mistakes. But it turns out being an easily frustrated fire Genasi in the woods is a poor life choice and also that he hates plants and bugs and having to poop behind trees and all the other being in the woods stuff (and since he was a ranger in 3.5 this ineptitude reflected into the game mechanics.) He came out of hiding to try his hand at mercenary work and ended up in a small group tasked with saving the world from an evil and bloodthirsty bird god thing and his loyal follower, the righteous and good(?) paladin king of the land. Somehow he ended up as team dad (alongside Cliq as team mom) and the public speaker for the group?? Mostly they just let enemies stare in confusion at him until the spellcasters were warmed up. In the end the bard ended up fucking the god so we skipped the DM's really cool fight and Brand didn't get the chance to accidentally shoot any of his allies in the butt again. Since then he's been living with his boyfriend and puttin his team dadness and his accumulated knowlage of practical survival stuff and fighting to good use as a captain in the city watch for the capital city that they kinda threw into horrible disarray when they killed its king and upper levels of government.
Brand both worries about and rightfully recognizes Gany as one of the biggest threats to the party. He feels like he should be doing more to keep Gany from following in his footsteps vis-a-vis thinking with his dick, but is usually caught up in his charisma and never manages to actually point him in a less dangerous direction. Dispite this, however, he greatly respects Gany's impressive skills as a sorcerer.
Brand is more than a little unnerved by Zel's lack of giving a fuck about anyone around him, but after learning that he is about gnome 15, hopes that he'll grow out of it. He definitly likes having Zel on his side tho and is jealous of Zel's ability to blow shit the fuck up.
99% of the time Brand is sad about how little he knows about the dicks of the men he meets. Hansi is the 1%.
Brand worries that he forgets about Dravo compared to the melodrama of most of the rest of the party. But, honestly? The kid is more than capable of taking care of himself.
As a fellow nature based spellcaster, Brand was very jealous when he saw Willow call down a swarm of piranahs from the sky to devour the flesh of their enemies. He was also seriously squicked out and probably takes more care than nessesary when talking with them.
