Lela's a laid-back, peace-loving decoy with a love for weed and women. She finally has her studio where U-Phoria Records London has its humble beginnings. The studio itself was once a bowling alley that Lela refurbished for music. You can find Lela strolling in the streets of London like it was 1972, flare pants and hoop earrings swaying at her sides. She's overly friendly to strangers who express any musical interest but otherwise, she happily keeps to herself.
Currently, she lives in her London studio helping aspiring musicians find their groove.
Her personality type is ENFP and she is a Pisces.
Born on March 1st, 1991, Lela was raised by her father Ansu Nara in Kyoto, Japan. Ansu taught her sitar, a cultural touchstone in his family, and allowed her to busk with him and his friends at an early age. Lela was "free-range" meaning her father trusted her to go off on her own in Kyoto given how tightly knit the community was-- because of this she is quick to trust strangers.
In reality, Ansu knew Lela came from demonic ancestry and felt his control only went so far. Lela had a rebellious phase as a teenager which caused Ansu to move back in with his family in Essex to keep her on a shorter leash. This is where she crossed paths with Noodle for the first time. The two were fast friends, brought together by their equally isolating circumstances. Young Lela traveled with Gorillaz up until Noodle's apparent death in El Mañana.
Post-El Mañana Lela was sucked into the world of Yakuza in Tokyo. Shiori Nara, her biological mother, had left Lela with her adoptive father out of fear of her demonic heritage. Unbeknownst to Lela, Shiori had a fateful encounter with Maazu in the early 90s that left her traumatized and knocked up with her. Shiori quickly adjusts Lela to her new drug-running life by renaming her "Misato", or "beautiful home".
Lela has been developed in an RP for the last four years that have delved into many different genres. Lela is not human- she is a half-demon (cambion) whose powers evolved into empathetic psychic ability. She can sense people's intentions, immediate emotions, and even glimpses into their pasts all depending on how well she knows a person.
I have been working on the details of this story since 2016 and I tend to write myself in circles. Lela is my baby and I refuse to give up on her.

girlfriend
They met in Tokyo while Noodle was finding herself. Noodle wrote Every Planet We Reach is Dead about Lela after seeing her for the first time with an apparent boyfriend. By a twist of fate, Noodle saved her from a horde of zombies at Kong and developed Demon Days together. El Mañana tore them apart. Lobbing off Maazu's head brought them back together.
bestie
Mentor and best friend, Lela met Stu when she was just 14. She was wary of him during phase 2--he was a flick knife-wielding rockstar. By the time D-Sides was recorded, however, she found a softer, honest side to him. The two worked on Hong Kong together. Years later they reunite yet Stu doesn't seem to remember her. They now bond over getting stoned, music, and fashion.
ex-girlfriend
A toxic relationship Lela had during her Yakuza days. Ayano used her as leverage with the oyabun, Lela's mother. The more power she had over her, the more impressed oyabun would be. Could there have been romance lost in the sludge? Probably. Not that Ayano would admit it.
mother
Lela's biological mother. She has a strained relationship with her after being exploited by her in her Yakuza empire. This lessened after Maazu (bio father) took over and exploited Shiori as well. Shiori is a strong-willed, no-nonsense woman who often butted heads with her daughter.
adoptive father
Everything Lela knows about music can be attributed to Mr. Ansu Patel. He passed down his sitar to her after she took an interest in the unique instrument. Soon, she took to it like a duck to water. Ansu is a college professor in Music and Philosophy in England but raised Lela during his sabbatical years in Kyoto. Ansu is a laid-back rock for Lela and her most influential parental figure.
