Story:
Mayumi was raised in a loving household with her parents and baby brother. She was trained by her father and the Head of the Muramasa Clan at the time, Senji, to become his heir. However, multiple people in power within the Clan were opposed to the idea of a woman having the highly regarded position of Head and already despised Senji for breaking Clan tradition multiple times. According to Senji, the Clan has grown stagnant because the tradition has held them back from truly expanding and growing.
Whether it be collusion or coincidence, her father and brother were murdered by a noble from a foreign kingdom during a raid. As Mayumi and her mother, Mayuki, realized what happened, Mayumi's forearms start to burn with pain and turn black. The sins of her father and predecessors have been branded onto her, creating her Mark. She loses control of herself and goes on a rampage before having to be sedated and her arms sealed with anti-magic seals.
Now with a vacuum of power, the Clan's higher-ups descended into in-fighting over who would be the new Head. As the elders and high-ranking clan members argued, Mayumi spent time training, making as many relationships as she can, even helping an isolated and lonely Murasaki. Soon, Mayumi was able to convince the clan to make her Head as she grew older and wiser, but eventually, Gouma, the Advisor of the Clan, had the elders agree to have him have the position. Mayumi and Mayuki were powerless to stop this and had no say in the matter. Thus, a ceremony was held for Gouma to become Head. Mayumi and Mayuki were seized, tied, and suspended in the temple's main room. The ceremony of the transfer of power required Mayumi's arms to be severed and burned to extract the Mark of the Head. As Gouma approaches Mayumi with her father's sword, the room suddenly turns pitch black.
It was Murasaki. She had escaped from the temple's basement room to free Mayumi and Mayuki.
Seizing the chance, Mayumi quickly grabbed her father's sword and stabbed Gouma through the heart. Gouma, realizing that his time was up, fell to his knees and was finished off by Murasaki.
Mayumi now proclaimed herself to now be the Head of the Clan. The members of the Clan followed her as she still now continues her father's work in changing the Clan's tradition in order for them to flourish. And to that extent, she has succeeded. The Muramasa Clan Village has hidden itself in the Mistlands and has become almost self-sufficient. The Muramasa Clan's knowledge of magic, nature, and weaponry has far exceeded any other kingdom or empire and had reached a quiet peace. That was, until rumors of a boy with blue hair traveling around Alvaria arose...
