As a warrior from Lathule, Laran is a brave and independent woolyne ready to defend her home when need. She can be a bit aggressive with her actions and stubborn when it comes to sticking with plans as she would rather act first and think later. Though she is confident and leading underwater, she becomes a bit of a clutterhead when it comes to land stuff. She's not used to the traditions of the land woolynes and easily gets lost, even with the help of maps. She also fluster easily when talking to those she have a crush on. But on the daily, she can be depended on when given a task at hand.

Laran comes from a long line of scholars, yet she comes out of the family as the odd one out. Though much like her siblings, she adores learning new things, but her passion lies in being out on the battle to protect those she care about. Her family, though surprised by her decision to be a warrior, supports her fully as long as she keeps up her studies on the side. Life was well in Lathule for her until the overabundance of lyss created monsters attacked the city. Laran realised she was not ready for anything like it before, so when a few land woolynes came to help save the city, she realised she knew so little about the world above and her own city. With that, she was determined to learn more about the lands that lie beyond her home.

After the restoration of the city, she was met with Amber and Riot. They have asked her to come with them to Ur-Bahn, which Laran saw as an opportunity to learn more new things. Laran asked her family for blessings to let her learn about the world beyond. Though her mother was a not on board at first, she finally let Laran go after a lot of talk and consideration from her dad. Equipped with Lathulian armour and spear, some food rations for the road and a heap of gold, Laran sets off to see the land that's so far and distant from her own hometown.

On land, Laran was basically culture shocked from how different everything went on land than underwater. Not to mention, the shift from swimming with her mertail to walking with legs feels awfully uncomfortable. But such trivialities won't stop her from learning new things, even if it means getting lost in her travels. She resides mostly on the city of Ur-Bahn, helping the desert soldiers train with spears and doing documentations and readings to send back to her family back in Lathule.
