Hasami Kanemaru is a student in Class 1-A of U.A. High School, training to become a Pro Hero. His parents are both well known fashion designers most noteable for their work making high-fashion hero costumes that also still effectively serve their purpose.

Appearance

Hasami is a little below average in height and has a rather slender and delicate build. His hair is noted as being raven black for in the right lighting it has a bit of a blue shine to it, reaching his shoulders when kept down. In general though he prefers keeping it in a high ponytail or up in some way, bangs parted so his eyes aren't completely hidden, and with lots of stray whisps strewn about that still cause you to question his actual visibility. Occassionally he is seen with pastel or other cute hair pins in to keep some of the whisps under control but even so it's hard to say if it's really to help or just for accessory. He has really pretty eyes that are thin and narrow with longer eyelashes, also being a soft periwinkle in color. In general Hasami is usually said to have a rather pretty face with his eyes being the main charm point. Another notable detail is that like the rest of his build, he also has thin and delicate hands. At the tips of his fingers he's able to unsheathe needles much like claws as part of his quirk. Because of this he also takes rather good care of his nails and generally keeps them a little longer or wears simple acrylics as a measure of caution to himself and others against the needles when not fully in use as they do tend to accidentally potrude a bit at times. Lastly and also relating to his hands, Hasami has a decent collection of scars both on his hands and his forearms both from operating his quirk and also his bad habit of playing with scissors. The most noteable scar is the one on his right ring finger, originating from a minor incident during his childhood.

Personality

For those he's newly aquainted with or just the side of himself he shows most often, Hasami is very friendly and easygoing. If he finds people he's even slightly drawn too he'll stick to them and follow them around, down to go along with just about whatever. He's not scared to approach others so making friends and even just interacting with strangers is very easy and seemingly natural for him. He can be a bit of a flirt as well as touchy but it's mostly just his way of showing friendliness. He's very capable of picking up when someone is uncomfortable and he makes sure it's okay before touching anyone especially, but with those who are okay with it he's very down with casual displays of affection and can often be found linking arms, holding hands, or just leaning on his friends or classmates. He's also really kind and caring and always is willing to help someone out when they need or ask for it. He especially loves doing things like cooking for others or taking them out to eat. A lot of it stems from him watching over his siter at home a lot of the time while his parents are busy with work, but it's also just simply his nature too.

If you're a little closer to him or have simply just been around a little longer you'll still mostly get all the same traits from Hasami, but you'll see a more childish and short-tempered side to him start to peek through too. Although he was raised relatively well, he does still come from a slightly wealthier family so there's just a bit of bratty spoiledness to him. Usually he can keep that under control but in some circumstances he can be really stubborn and hold grudges or do things simply out of spite when they don't go his way or otherwise seemingly childish reasons. He can whine a lot too just because he can but this occurs more when he's tired or exhausted since when well rested he has just that little bit more rationality to know what's worth whining over and what isn't. On the positive side though, his temper can cause spikes in his drive and determination to push foward and accomplish some things so it's not entirely a negative thing.

Lastly, Hasami is also a bit of a hopeless romantic not so deep down and can get very easily distracted when there's cute boys around. Despite generally being pretty cool and confident, he's the kind of person to get really shy and nervous around people he finds attractive or just romantically appealing in general. He still tries to keep up his usual calm demeanor but if you pay close enough attention or just know him that well you'll be able to catch him slipping up and stuttering or giving off other nervous signals. Hes really not terrible at hiding it though, but later on Hasami tends to look back on and overthink those interactions and gets worked up thinking his weird behavior was a lot more noticeable than it actually was. So in summary, he's weak for cute boys and there's not really a whole lot that can help him there at this point.

Abilities

Enhanced Flexibility: Hasami is really flexible and this comes to is aid quite often by making it easier to weave and operate his thread. It also increases his ability to dodge more attacks since he's able to bend out of the way in manners others wouldn't.

Enhanced Agility: He has good reaction time and reflexes and while he might not be able to offensively act in these situations that well, he's very good at moving out of the way and dodging around people when they're in close quarters to him. He has fast footwork too which can be useful in catching opponents off-gaurd and giving him the upper-hand.

Skilled Needlework: Thanks to his quirk and also having two fashion designers as parents, Hasami is really good with sewing and can not only do it really well but also really quickly if neccessary which allows him to be useful for quick repairs and sewing related emergencies either during battle or just in general.

Culinary Talent: Hasami really enjoys cooking so both out of hobby and the fact he's often had to make dinner for his sister and him, he's had lots of practice and is considered a really good cook! He's especially good with hot pot dishes but that's only because they're his favorite, so really just about anything goes if he at least has a recipe or basic idea on how to start it off.

Quirk

Multi-Purpose Thread: At the tips of his fingers he can protrude needles in a claw-like manner that can be used in close combat. These needles can also be cast out attached to thread that Hasami can munipulate to serve several purposes as long as it's not cut from him. On it's own the thread is extremely strong and takes a very large amount of strength to be able to break, making it really useful both in combat as well as restraint, rescue, and movement.

Moves

Cut String: While still attached to his fingers, Hasami can will the thread to become razor sharp and can then use it to cut through just about anything. He's not immune to the effects himself though so he must be careful when handling it, hence also where most of the scars on his arms and hands came from before getting his hero costume, which has protection against that. He also generally prefers to only use his thread in this state on inanimate objects or in ways that only cause minor damage since he could easily cut someone into pieces and as an aspiring hero that amount of damage isn't really what you want most of the time.

Medical Stich: Also while still attached, Hasami can will the thread to have healing properties as well. It can instantly heal any non-immediately fatal wound when sewn shut with it. Downside though is due to the extreme speed of healing it does leave a very prominent scar that doesn't really fade much over time. The thread also can only heal wounds to tissue and cannot repair bone, so although he could repair the tissue around it you'd still have to take measures so that the bone would heal normally.

Cat's Cradel: This is used to descripe many of the nets Hasami can weave with his thread as he starts them off similar to how you'd play the game with normal thread. Most often it's used for safety nets to catch people falling or other defense and rescue purposes but there have been a few cases where he's used it to catch large objects, turning the thread to be sharp so that it cuts it into smaller pieces, thus minimizing damage/making the object a little easier to deflect for others than it would have been whole.

Equipment

Scissors: Hasami isn't very skilled with using his needles on their own and can't always fight effectively with his thread, so he carries scissors along with him that he uses similarly to throwing knives or knives in general. They also act as reinforcement when he wants to use his thread to climb or swing from due to fear his needles alone won't be strong enough to hold his or others' weight.

Trivia:

• Hasami's parents are very well known fashion designers that make high end clothing but are most famous for their work with making stylish yet functional hero costumes.
• Hasami has a little sister that he's very fond of and often helps watch over while his parents are busy at work. They're so close that most of Hasami's more feminine interests are usually just assumed to be influenced by his sister when in reality he was the one who got HER into those things. He generally just goes along with it since it lets him contintue to enjoy these things in peace.
• His main "hidden" interest is shoujo anime and manga. Particularly romance, though he does also enjoy cooking series a bit too.
• He really likes J-rock
• His favorite food is Sukiyaki! But he's a big fan of most hot pot dishes and is really good when it comes to determining what the best combinations and timing for them are.
• He has a really pretty singing voice though it's not really something brought up often so it's almost considered a hidden talent for him.
• He has a bad habit with playing with scissors
• As a kid he discovered his quirk could be used for healing when he accidentally cut his finger pretty bad while playing with scissors and panicked. He didn't want to get yelled at so he tried to fix it himself and the wound was sealed immediately, revealing the new side of the thread's abilities.
