Otetezame

Otetezame is a malevolent but only somewhat dangerous yokai that floats around just above the ocean's surface. It steals the hands of those who are drowning, saying "give me your hand!", and taking the entire arm when given. Although the size of a small boat and very unsettling-looking, Otetezame is mostly powerless unless this particular "transaction" occurs, and tends to manifest mostly during storms or in groups of other apparitions at sea. It is possible to converse with and also to touch Otetezame, but neither of these things are a particularly pleasant or wholesome experience.

Otetezame is what passes for friends with another shark-looking yokai, Bakezame. It refers to him as Oyabun (boss), but there doesn't appear to be any kind of actual reason for it to do so.
