When Sunny was 4, the Celestial Elders recognized her as another reincarnation of Celestia and removed her from her parents. She was renamed from her forgotten name into Saint Katherine and trained to become a new sarcifice to the Sun and Moon cycle the Celestial Dragons were desperately trying to keep going. At the same time, another young girl was trained up as Saint Margaret, the reincarnation of Luna. They were treated as though they were (birth) sisters by the Celestial Dragons.

Growing up, she was barely more than a pawn to them, getting harshly punished for any 'mistake' her new family found in her or her 'sisters' behaviour or abilities. One of their most popular punishments was an extended stay in the Dark Tower, designed to sap away any magic, light or feeling a prisoner might have. Understandably, both of them developed a strong fear of the dark because of this.

After Cherry started to cause a stir, and the Elders realized what she was (a nightmare, in all senses of the word) they send out the stronger of the two sisters, Saint Katherine to destroy Cherry before she could do more harm to their world view. Equipped with years of harsh training in magic and a shard of the Element of Loyalty, Katherine procceded to completely and utterly lose to Cherry, who had a sword and the Will To Keep Going No Matter What.

Adopting the name Sunspark (Cherry called her "a little spark of sun") after coming back "home", she realized what the Celestial Dragons had been doing for centuries - keeping the elements of harmony powered by any means, even after their original bearers were destroyed. Before she could do anything with that knowledge, she was thrown into the Tower Of Darkness for her failure.

Once released, Cherry talked some sense into her, and she finally realized something momentious - Cherry was her friend.

With that realization, the Element Of Honesty choose her as the new bearer, destroying the old elements, and reviving them at the same time. This bought them the victory on this day.

Sunny was half adopted by Cherry and Dew, who used their combined power to free the rest of the world and start a new (space) age.
