About

Paige is not someone who is comfortable being out in the open. She often hides in the shadows, rather than allow herself to be seen. She rarely speaks to others and maintains a very small circle of friends. She has trust issues and generally struggles with socializing, and that small circle of friends is all she can really manage. She mostly occupies herself by reading and learning. She has an undying thirst for knowledge and an even stonger appetite for good stories. If you have an interesting story to tell, she might be convinced to come out and listen.

Background

Paige was raised in an orphanage in Aurdrassil from infancy. While the Aurdrassi are a kind people, nobody had any idea how a Tendrian baby wound up in Aurdrassil, and the fae were blamed. She was always suspected to have been meddled with by the fae, especially given the unusual nature of her powers, and therefore always regarded with caution and disdain. Her powers and abilities never caused her caretakers anything but fear, and she soon learned that books were a far better solace than anyone around her. Being raised in Aurdrassil, she is not very familiar with the customs and culture of her own people.

Ancestry, magic, and shapeshifting

Paige is what is known as an omni-mage. Such individuals are not bound by one magical element, but rather can use all ten. Paige has had this ability for longer than she can remember, but one simply does not become an omni-mage naturally. Typically becoming such requires a great deal of sacrifice and requires actions that no well-meaning person would ever take. In short, the known process of becoming an omni-mage is inherently unethical. The Aurdrassi certainly do not blame an infant for something they obviously did not do, but the fact Paige has this power always generated fear in her caretakers, mostly of fae meddling. As with any strong mage, Paige has access to anthro and feral shapeshifting spells, in her case to become an anthro or feral cat. Not much is known about her ancestry, as she was found on a forest floor in Aurdrassil with no parents to be seen, but it would seem she was actually born in Tendria at some point as genetics indicate she is of purely Tendrian descent.

Relationships

Midnight de Nokto [ Ex-boyfriend ]

Paige has no gripe with Midnight, anymore. Their relationship ended badly, but she can tell he's grown and matured. In the end, she just doesn't feel the infatuation she did before. He's not her type, and he never will be. Nothing wrong with that, she's just glad they've both moved on.

Inkwell Encrier [ Friend ]

Paige looked up to Inkwell in the early days of Rifted, as he was a well-known heroic figure at the time. When she finally met him, she found he was a lot more personable and goofy than she was led to believe. Quickly, she began to consider him a more of a good friend than a distant legend. The two trust each other immensely, and work together often.

Kokabiel [ Friend ]

Paige initially was quite cold and hostile toward Kokabiel, not appreciating being tracked down and cornered. However, she soon found it useful to have another person that knew about her that was not likely to be dangerous for having that knowledge, and couldn't help but warm up to her after a bit.
