Mukuro Isono

One half of a pair of twins, Mukuro Isono displayed a talent for sensing and communing with spirits at a young age. Her father, the powerful Lord of a family bound to the shadows as the Emperor's assassins and secret police, sent her off with the priesthood when she came of age so that she might learn to control her gift. Torn from her beloved sister, she honed her skills in both the warding and binding of spirits and her skills in the physical arts. When she returned as her academy's golden student, she discovered something terrible. Her twin sister, the person closest to her in the world, had begun meddling in dark and forbidden magic. Torn between loyalty to her sister, and the duty drilled into her every day at the academy, she eventually made the terrible choice to expose her sister's deeds to her Father. It was then that Mukuro was ordered to carry out the execution of her own twin sister as her test of loyalty to doing what had to be done, no matter the cost. Her sister was executed by her own hand, and the look of betrayal and hatred that glared at her from behind her sister's eyes bore it's way into Mukuro's mind. With a last whispered curse that 'she would always be with her' , her twin died...and true to her word, began to haunt Mukuro as a vengeful spirit that entwined itself with her. Suffering under that eternal reminder of the price of duty, Mukuro set off into the world in the mask of the Hannya to fufill her duty of finding and exterminating evil spirits no matter where they might appear...be they in a Lord corrupted by dark magic, or lurking in the home of a peasant.
