Loud and bombastic, sweet Mercury is easily excitable and eager to investigate new things or meet new people. Becoming easily depressed if she's not kept busy, she's often seen going anywhere and everywhere or working on her farm. She's not always so easy to get along with, her proud bull-headed nature makes it hard for her to admit when she's wrong. Even attempting to change her mind is an impossible feat a majority of the time.

Growing up poor on a desert planet on a farm that could barely produce crops, Mercury Hodges didn’t have much. But what she had, she loved. That being her parents and older brother Butane. Since the farm was a bust, her father took up a job as a carpenter to make ends meet. The job paid little, but it was enough to get by at least. One night, while the family slept, cattle thieves showed up. They searched the ranch but came up empty-handed.
Furious, they took to the house to find any valuables. Only to find a small jar with barely any money. Feeling cheated, the bandits locked the family inside and burned their house. The only ones to escape were Butane and Mercury. With Butane having been awoken by his father’s cries for help, only to be told to get his sister and run. The siblings watched as the tiny farmhouse went up in ablaze. With nowhere to go, and starving, the two began stealing food and money from unsuspecting locals. One day, in a search of some bread, Merc was caught by the local blacksmith. Only for him to take pity on her and let her have the bread. The two got to talking and after a while, went to get her brother. The blacksmith offered Butane an apprenticeship and to take care of the two. He quickly agreed and was soon put to work. Merc was free to do as she wanted, but she liked to stay and watch her brother work, who once she was old enough and realizing she liked blacksmithing, taught her as well.
It wasn't enough and she saught something even more. Every night she would slip off and rob a few towns nearby of their valuables. After a few months, Merc managed to gather enough money to leave the town. Butane, however, wasn't convinced of how she garnered the money and grilled her pretty hard. Once he got it out of her, the two got into a big fight that caught the attention of their caretaker. Who was disappointed in her, and sent her off to the academy to hopefully beat some sense into her head. While it worked for a while, she still can't help herself and will nab whatever she thinks are valuable while she's out on adventures.
