 ⇀ Rose [ Mother ]
Rose is a curvey, deceptively delicate looking woman who has very long dark brown hair that has a white streak on the right side of her face, and dark blue eyes.
Being the daughter of a princess, and the granddaughter of a Queen means she was raised in high luxury at her grandmother’s court. She was highly educated, but possessed an unusual psychic empathic ability. Being able to sense emotions wasn’t exactly a comfortable ability in a royal court.
Rose herself is a very caring, calm person who is gentle most of the time. She also possesses a razor sharp intellect, a great deal of wit, and an incredibly strong will. She served as peacemaker to half the people her age at court, and people admit she can be strangely intimidating when she wants to be.. She also has a very nice singing voice, and there was speculation that she could have been a bard if she had chosen to go that route.
She also scandalized all of her grandmother’s court not only by giving birth out of wedlock, but for refusing to hide it or be ashamed about it.
Rose quickly grew tired of the gossip and wanted to leave the court, but didn’t want to give anyone the satisfaction of thinking they drove her away. So instead she decided to be as blunt as possible and not hold back on telling certain people what she really thought. Eventually she insulted enough people her Grandmother was forced to ‘banish’ her to a country manor. Rose settled down there happily with Sky, and started learning how to weave.
Sky adores his mother, and she’s one of the few people that can make him stop whatever dramatics he’s doing. They’re fairly close, since it was just the two of them for years.
Rose sometimes wonders if Sky has inherited a small bit of her own abilities in addition to the prodigious magical abilities he got from his father. He seems strangely sensitive to people’s moods sometimes, and she isn’t sure if it’s just the way he is, or empathic ability.

⇀ “Alec”[ Biological Father ]
Alec is the name that Sky’s father gave Rose, but even she admits that she isn’t sure if that was an alias or not.
Sky hasn’t ever met his father, but he has been looking for him. It was one of the reasons he agreed to ‘apprentice’ under Merlin to really master his abilities. It was something he had inherited from his father, then he might be able to find him if he figure dout how to use them himself.
When Sky was younger he had fantasies about finding his father, or rescuing him because clearly he had a reason for not coming back, and bringing him back to a happy reunion with his mother. Even though he’s willing to admit it’s childish as he gets older, he was more disappointed that his mother’s marriage shattered his daydreams of bringing his family together again himself than he thought he would be. It took him a while to really accept it.

⇀ Theodore [ Step-father ]
Sky’s step-father is a scholar, specializing in stories of legendary or rare creatures. He and Rose met when she was looking for information about dragons when Sky was younger. She had hoped to find something that would help her understand her son better. Theodore is quiet, and even though he’s actually made several important discoveries, he prefers to stay out of the limelight and let others take the stage. He’s incredibly intelligent though and very gentle.
Sky says he finds him kind of boring, but as long as his mother is happy then he is too. He gets along with Theodore, but had a hard time connecting with him for years. Really, Sky knows he’s underestimating him, and probably has a hard time getting close because a tiny part of him was still cherishing that fantasy of finding his birthfather.

⇀ Liliana[ younger sister ]
Sky’s younger sister is around ten, and love music. She’s outgoing and inquisitive and peppers Sky with questions about adventures he’s been on whenever he shows up. She’ll also make him sit and listen to whatever piece of music she’s learning at the time. The elder of the twins.
Sky adore his younger siblings and loves showing off to them. He’ll bring them small trinkets and tell them exaggerated and edited stories of what he’s been doing. He can’t tell them he’s visiting other worlds after all.

⇀ Celyn [ Younger brother ]
The younger twin of Sky’s two younger siblings. He’s a quiet and serious boy, sometimes to serious for his age, Sky thinks. He’s bright, and curious, but also much more introverted than his sister and brother. Still, he hero worships Sky, and follows him around whenever he’s home. He’s been practicing magic recently, with mixed results. Sky has been very encouraging about it.

⇀ Alyward[ Grand-godfather/godfather ]
Alyward is Rose’s godfather, an old friend of her own parents. He and his partner came to stay with her and Sky at their manor when their own house was damaged during a flood, and they stayed.
Alyward and Sky actually have every similar temperments, and people sometimes assume they are actually blood related. Alyward always dramatically lays a hand on his chest and declares that Sky his a grandchild of his heart and that makes it even better. He’s actually told that to Sky’s biological grandparents who are actually touched by this, though they tease him out loud. Alyward is also a very powerful mage, and taught Sky some when he was younger.
Sky loves him, and often relies on him for advice or support when it’s something he doesn’t feel comfortable asking his mother about.

⇀Chryssa [ Grandmother ]
Technically a Princess, she’s served most of her adult life as a diplomat for the kingdom. She would be the first to admit she would have been bored just staying at court and wanted to really do something with her life. Something of a mage herself too, which tended to make people uncomfortable
Stood by her daughter when Sky was born, and spoiled Sky a little when he was younger. Generally has a positive relationship with her oldest grandson.

⇀ Heru [ Grandfather ]
Heru works with his wife Chryssa as a diplomatic unit, and they tend to be very successful. Relaxed and level-headed, like he’s wife he was unconditionally supportive of Rose. A mage himself, he realized how...strane Sky’s magic could be early on. Still supportive of Sky, even if he’s gone who-knows-where half the time.

⇀ Shanna [ Aunt ]
Rose’s older sister. A scholar, adventurer, and researcher that travels extensively in their world, Sky loved hearing stories from her when she would stop to visit when he was younger. She had little time for what she says is ‘useless jockeying’ in the court and left when she was younger and went traveling as soon as she could
Actually the one that introduced Rose and Theodore to each other.

⇀ Violeta[ Great-Aunt ]
Queen and ruler of her kingdom, she didn’t see much of her great-nephew until he was much older. She knew all about what happened with her niece, and understood the choices she made although she does privately think she was a bit dramatic about it. Still, when Sky turns up after being curious about this royal aunt, she welcomed him. Sky doesn’t see her much, but he is fond of her.
When talking about her with friends who aren’t aware of his family history, he sometimes calls her ‘Auntie Vi’

⇀ Nicomedes[ Great-uncle ]
Nicomedes serves as his twin Violeta’s closest advisor. He has a lively sense of humor, though it sometimes bordes on sardonic. Sky thinks he’s fun, but is also slightly uncomfortable with Nicomedes trying to convince him to serve as a royal mage. He’s flattered, but it seems too confining for him.

⇀ Iris[ Great-grandmother ]
Former Queen, she stepped down in favor of her daughter a while back. Very old, and retired to a ranch where she raises racing hippogriffs outside the capitol. Sky and his mother would got to visit her once she was there, and she always sent gifts to sky for his birthday. Sky is very fond of her.
