Galah

Galah is a free spirited young dragon who loves to travel. He often ignores unnecessary hardship and goes with the flow. While he can take things seriously his nomadic lifestyle allows him to let things go just as simply. However this can be to his detriment at times. His aloof nature can make people assume he simply doesn’t care enough to let things dwell since he easily recovers from strife and distress.

Effects of society - 

• Dragon society around the world is fragmented and hard to access, but the stigma in place is to keep to yourself. Galah is far from that and thrives on social connection and travels between the different little groupings, towns and societies of dragonkind to learn more about them all. This was likely brought on due to his wings being defective and much too small for him to be able to fly. He yearns for the freedom and adventure they would provide him otherwise.  
• Being a crossbreed in this world makes dragons like Galah receives a lot of flack. While he’s learned to ignore it, it does bother him yet he simply hides that emotion. Some purebread dragons wouldn’t entirely think that he has any issues. 

BEFORE BIRTH

Before the current day dragons had been different. All living together under the same mantle and striving together as kin. However, as time progressed it gave birth to a divide between the creatures. The chasm of their differences grew and they all detested one another. Blood was shed, lines were drawn and no longer were dragons together as one, they were separate as many and few.

Circa 3 years before Galah's birth and millennia after the separation war, a young sky dragoness, Valkyrie, daughter of the chief of sky dragons fell in love with a wandering Fire dragon named Vermillion. Upon discovering the two's romance the chief sought and succeeded on having Vermillion killed.  However, this wasn't before Valkyrie discovered she was carrying Vermillion's dragonet. Desperate to save her departed's son she forged a relationship with Hawk, a sky dragon which she had been friends with prior to meeting Vermillion. She guarded the egg with everything she had ensuring she'd be the only one there when the young creature would hatch so that she could choose her son's fate. To Galah's luck his appearance favored his mother and while his red markings could be explained away, his dwarfed wings filled her with concern.

CHILDHOOD

As a young dragon life was especially difficult for Galah. Though hawk was tolerant of the young dragon he could easily tell this son he thought he had wasn't head. Galah had unwittingly witnessed many arguments between his parents and what's more as he grew the other dragons of his year began to tease and bully him for his small wings. Though Galah began to gradually learn to handle this abuse his yearning for freedom from the chains of sky dragon society grew on him. When he found out his mother was pregnant again he took it as the perfect opportunity for escape, the responsibilities which would lay on him as her son. Leaving behind a note as goodbye Galah ran away at the ripe age of 16. 

Life was hard for him at first. Gathering food was hard, the world was dangerous and had no love for him, yet he was still enamored by its contents. As he grew he began to learn the ways of the world, experiencing the untamed wild and forging a dream of adventure. He wanted to document and record every existing dragon genus he could find. 

CURRENT

At the start of his 21st year, Galah departed from the mire of some swamp dwelling dragons on to the coral fish ponds and geodes which housed the Gem dragons. These dragons happened to be the most elusive as far as finding them, though he suspected it was due to many other non-dragon beasts poaching them. Regardless, Galah was determined to find one. His first few weeks turned up short. No sign of a dragon around and not being able to swim as well as one of them he wondered if the dragons had resigned to a life under the water. Just as he was on the verge of moving on he encountered Suex who approached Galah with surprising friendliness. Galah was dumbfounded at first expressing his feelings to the eccentric postal worker.  

The two make friends fast each swapping stories about their experiences. Though Suex's had been more contained to this area Galah felt more than pleased by the stories his new friend had shared them being much different than the ones he'd heard from other dragons. Galah, as he usually would, set up his home within close proximity of Suex's home hoping to stay for a while and learn about this little facet of gem dragons. Life was sweet for the first few months however danger had reared its head after poachers had set their sights on Suex. Galah returning home to find that suex who would usually greet him there had gone missing. Tracking down the poachers Galah managed to rescue Suex, expressing the most concern he'd had for any dragon he'd met. Deeply worried for his friend Galah had refused to leave his side, even proposing he just stay here with Suex and not move on to the next place. Thankfully his companion disagreed knowing it was far from his friend's nature to simply just stay here. Rather Suex requested that once it was time to move on Galah take him with him. Elated he agreed and thus bringing them to current time. 

• One thing Galah is self conscious the most about are his wings, comments or slights against that causes his careless nature to crack. 
• Galah can be quite clueless when it comes to affection. while he’s a flirt, albeit unintentionally, he doesn’t notice when someone is interested in him romantically
• Suex tends to bring a lot more of Galah’s affection out compared to other people. Oftentimes you’ll see him showing a wider range of expression outside of just the laid back vacant one he often shows.

Best Friend

Suex is not Galah's first friend he made on his travels, but this would have to be the first dragon who shared his spirit for adventure and didn't mind the company of others. Unlike most dragons, the Gem Dragon didn't even flinch at Galah's being a half-breed.
