Profile

Personality, traits and abilities:

Eamonn is surprisingly laid-back for a high elf. He likes having a little something happening around and enjoys all sorts of company, not discriminating by race nor gender. However, he might be a little too easygoing for his own good. He often gets into trouble starting from smaller things of interest that somehow escalate before he can safely back off. This includes gambling, paying off some debts and his... questionable affair choises. If anything good has come out of this, it's that he's accustomed to travelling around a lot. It's not unusual for him to borrow some money from someone, making a nice win off of it, but then putting off the repaying part because of slight anxiousness. Eventually facing the person isn't an option anymore because how late the payment is and he spends the money to get away instead.

Despite his curiosity and the fact that he is kind of an adrenaline junkie, Ea is also a huge coward. Being alone in a threathening place most likely won't do and if it's reasonable in any way, he's going to look for a way out of a situation or place he doesn't like. He does his best to resist the flight response though.

Melee isn't really his forte, but Ea is an adept alchemist and a cabable offensive mage, with some magical knowledge to the side of course. He has also managed to rack up some resistance to toxic stuff, partially due to potion testing, partially due to drinking quite a lot. Alchohol ain't a problem at all, the consequences might be tho.

Noteworthy relations:

Lightbringers group: One doesn't see tieflings too often but these fellas sure aren't bad, especially not in the fighting section. Overall the combination of the two tieflings, two humans, an elf and a dwarf seems rather solid. Eamonn feels rather ashamed of his cowardice, seeing what the rest have done for each other so far. Maybe a bit of their courage will catch on at some point?

Thalos: Best bro. With Thalos having not-so-good, snobbish impressions about high elves and Ea having bad encounters with some stern dwarves, them becoming friends seemed unlikely at first, but they quickly noticed they weren't so different after all. Currently the two travel together and get in trouble together. They might easily end up chatting all sorts of stuff in a rather loud-mouthed fashion but will shut each other up when things get more serious. It is also not uncommon for them to promt the other to perform better in a pinch. Eamonn says he owes Thalos his life after Lightbringers and would seriously be more than glad to repay the favour in full some day.

Folk at home: Ea's relations to his parents have never been the best. Most of the time at home he was either ignored of criticized, so he doubts the've missed him much. He did get along with his siblings though and sends his older brother and youngest sister letters from time to time.

At one point Eamonn took Thalos to accompany him on his visit back home. Some funny stories were traded amongstthe siblings, but unfortunately the trip ended with some highly unneeded criticism of Ea's company and life choises, and with him opening up to his parents about how he's felt all this time. Managing to outshout them, he made the choise of cutting ties.

He also has a sort of a fiancée, but the last time the two have seen each other was when they were little kids. Romantical interest is still be out of question, but they have quite some fun comparing stories that would surely disgrace both their parents. Both happen to be rather open minded individuals after all.

Sasu & EvrenSasu was Ea's apprentice for a short during the time when the elf held an alchemy shop. Things came to a bit of an abrupt end and they didn't see eachother for a longer while. When they did, Sasu was joined by their brother Evren and what do you know, Evren and Ea had a one night thing. The three get along pretty neatly.

Walter & Madeleine: Eamonn doesn't actually know either of these two. During one poker game in Hallbridges he managed to win a certain dragon's egg. The man who lost it was rather pissed off by his losses and had his revenge by alerting the guards of the egg's existance. Ea did what almost any reasonable person would do in that situation: run and shove the egg to the first person he came across. This person happened to be an apprentice of the mage's guild, and much to this young man's misfortune the egg hatched before he got the resolve to get rid of it. Poor dude's stuck with hiding a baby dragon now.

Appearence:

Eamonn is a tall-ish, brown skinned elf. His eyes are silvery grey and his eyebrows are rather thick. He has dark brown hair sleeked back to a short braid. Ea's ears partake in his expressions a lot, are surprisingly often in a low-ish angle and the left one has a small earring. A mage has to keep their body in shape even though clothes might hide it a bit.

Eamonn is usually very expressive, and one who knows him might easily recognize when he's either being very serious or lying, as he tries tries his best to keep a pokerface while doing so. To someone who hasn't spend much time with him this is definitely not so obvious.

He carries around a wooden staff and a satchel with stuff like an alchemist's traveller kit, some potions, writing tools and a notebook.

Backround:

Eamonn was born to a pair of high elf mages, Themira and Kiro, who had partaken in the Great Gauntlet War some 300 years ago. He wasn't the only child they had, he had four siblings in total: his eldest sibling Aleisha is 50 years older than him, big brother Sagi 35 years older than him and two little sisters Beler and Maighred, 15 and 20 years younger than him respectively.

The pair started training their children in sorcery from early on, but much to Ea's misfortune not only was he the unlucky middle child, he wasn't nearly as good or as fast a learner as his siblings. At times he would skip a lesson or two, knowing his parents would focus more on those who showed their potential early. During these times he would often sneak to chat with the family's servants or guests, some of whom were capable alchemists and shared their knowledge gladly with the interested boy. Though alchemy is connected to magics and he seemed more apt at it, Ea's parents concidered alchemy a lesser craft and saw no particular reason to praise him for it. Sagi did his best to support his brother and offered some extra lessons in spell casting, but Eamonn just couldn't perform well under pressure.

When he was nearing adulthood he was rather frustrated of the lack of (positive) attention. Certainly he wasn't bad at magic or lore and he was well on his way in alchemy, but that wasn't enough for his parents. The last straw was when Eamonn overheard his mother discussing with his father that te boy should give up on training, be married off to strengthen some business contacts and prepare to focus more on working with said businesses. He approved none of these ideas and sought council from Sagi, who give him the suggestion of going for a short trip somewhere away from home. Ea took this idea bit further and in a sudden act of rebelry, openly declared to his parents he would run away from home. The situation got a bit more sillier when he took a false name upon leaving, just to be sure they wouldn't find him, though most likely his disappearance went almost completely unnoticed for some 10 years. Later on he would take his birth name back to use.

So in his 110s the young elf departed to the unknown world, not quite knowing what to expect. Some of the strangest things to him were seeing folk from all sorts of races going around as they pleased, snowy winters and the relaxed atmosphere. Certainly he found himself enjoying plenty of the amusements these peole had. Perhaps a bit too much. He happened to get in trouble once in a while and ended taking up a habit of marking down places he's probably not welcome in a longer while. Mostly because there are people with whom things could get pretty awkward if they saw him again.

More recent events are recorded in the campaign summaries on our DnD group's blog. So far Eamonn has participated in Hound of Adranos and Lightbringers.

Trivia:

  • Eamonn is left handed.
  • With a couple more adventures behind him, he might easily surpass his siblings in skill. After all, actual experience teaches more than mere theory and training rounds.
  • Ea used to have an alchemy shop at one city for some 10 years. That went pretty well until he got indebted to some thugs. When things got nasty he had to poison the bunch and then left as fast as he could.
  • The record of affairs Ea has simultaniously had in the same town is 14. 10 if the two couples count as single affairs. He swears to all the gods these situations are unintentional and it's because he has a hard time saying no to good looking people. Luckily most of these aren't looking for any serious relationships either, so they should be okay even without any later contact, right?
  • .... And certainly this wasn't inspired by the fact that when I rolled his stats, he got 17 on constitution and 19 on charisma (lowered to 17 to balance a weaker stat) :__D
  • The song I find him most associatable with is Vegas Lights by Panic! at the Disco. Others include Hurricane & But it's Better if You Do//Panic! at the Disco and Rock it for Me//Caravan Palace.
