He's watching.

Perched atop a building, digging holes into the concrete with his claws, having first been attracted here by the scent of something strong, he's watching, and has been for what feels like ages now. The soul reaper's movements are deliberate and sharp, no extra, none wasted. He's dispatched those lesser Hollows with ease, though this is an infestation, and so they keep coming.

Ugh, he's bored. This is going to take forever, and he wants a turn with the soul reaper. He takes running position, waits for just the right moment, when the soul reaper's blade is about to make contact, and he bolts, cutting through the air like a knife. The impact alone kills off two Hollows right off the bat, and his spiritual pressure disintegrates the smaller ones next to him.

The soul reaper's eyes are on him. They're carving holes into his back, and he stands and turns, craning his neck. He can smell the soul reaper's fear. A grin works its way onto his face.

"Hey. Wanna play?"

Their gazes meet and a current of electricity shocks the reaper's nerves, freezing him in place. It's as though his brain is momentarily fried, and he squints at the sight before him, trying to make sense of it. That's a Vasto Lorde. The realization is starting to dawn on him. The ability to hide its presence, the paralyzing spiritual pressure, the humanoid form.

In the academy, they learned two things about Vasto Lorde class hollows. If you encounter one and you are alone, you will die. If you encounter one and are not alone, you will probably still die. He is all alone, but he will not allow himself to die.

And soon he'll learn, neither will the hollow.
