Chinou

A mischievous cryptid that lurks in the woods and and surprises travelers, Chinou has been given the nickname of "Mothman" by some of the local humans that have encountered it due to their floof, piercing yellow eyes, appearances at night, enigmatic cryptid nature, and similar traits traits that give them a bit of similarity to the creature. She gets a bit annoyed by this at times, but feels the comparison is flattering, being compared to such a legendary creature and all. Chinou is a bit of a trickster figure, appearing to travellers at night in either their monster/feral or anthro form, acting equal parts friendly, mysterious, insane, and intimidating while stretching about at times, showing off their crooked body, or even contorting limbs, depending on her current form. They love toying about with anyone they encounter, unnerving them, getting them in just the right mood and waiting for that perfect moment when WHAM, Chinou pounces upon the visitor, and treats them to a taste of their clairvoyant skills. Pinning them down, Chinou will stare right into their eyes, at which point her pupils open as wide as possible (as seen in the chibi version of them in their monster ref), placing the person into a trance while she gets a vision and looks into their future (mostly the near future). Afterwards, Chinou will deliver a fortune or message of sorts based on what they saw, except they tend to deliver it in the form of a riddle, or use exact words. And after that, Chinou can offer them little trinkets or charms (typically store in their mane or clipped to their clothes if wearing them) in exchange for things like food, valuables, or souls (well, not really that last one, but they'll still make the offer in order to make someone they feel deserves it become paranoid for their rest of their life), taking advantage of any greed/paranoia/worry coming from their vision. Notably, Chinou respects intelligence and courage, though, and will genuinely be more helpful towards anyone who stays more calm towards them and/or shows skill by decoding their messages. It's just that, to quote Linda Belcher, "she just likes messing with people she thinks are stupid." In general, Chinou loves being playful and mischievous around folks they encounter...unless you really tick them off or attack them. In which case, RUN.

All that said, when hanging out with their other trickster/cryptid friends like Dailor and the little collective they've formed (long story, still working on it), they're essentially "off the clock" and display a more natural personality. Around friends of those they're more familiar with, they're actually quite affable and friendly, always up for some sort of good time. They're still quite playful and mischievous, though, just in a more subdued way. The best way I could probably describe their personality right now is that when toying with visitors, they're similar to the Batman Returns version of Catwoman; Outside of that, they're a bit more Selina Kyle, albeit with a bit more attitude.

MISCELLANOUS BITS:

- They can swap between their monster & anthro forms at will, so feel free to show them in whichever one you like.

- They can be drawn with or without clothing in anthro form, as Chinou uses whichever option she feels works best. Their outfit is basically just a form-fitting tube top & shorts, both handmade and stitched together.

- They take a lot of pride in their mane, and any other fluff they have, as they feel it adds a mysterious air to things...well, & they just love the feel of it. Feel free to draw any of it as big as you'd like (within reason).

- In their anthro form, they can get a bit enthusiastic about any athletic competitions, especially anything that might require gymnastics of some kind. Chinou can surprisingly be more graceful than their appearance may suggest.
