Profile

༻ Family History ༺

Piper’s mother was a small Fletchinder living a solitary life in the Forest region. She had three fletchling eggs to tend to, and she busied herself by looking after the small eggs before they hatched. But one morning while the Fletchinder was off looking for Caterpies and Wurmples to eat, a Grovyle was climbing the tree that their nest was on, and accidentally shook their branch so much that it caused one of the eggs to fall out of the nest and to the forest floor. Thankfully, it managed to land in a large puddle of mud, so the egg didn’t get damaged at all. The Grovyle, realizing what he had done, skidded down the tree again and was relieved to find that the egg was safe and sound. He cleaned off the egg as best as he could and checked it for cracks, and tried to figure out how he would get it back up into its nest.

At first he tried to carry it in his hands and climb the tree using only his feet, but he couldn’t make it very far up the tree bark without using his hands. Next he tried to use Vine Whip and hoist himself up to the tree branch, but his wasn’t strong enough to pull himself up to the branch, and besides the branch was shaking so much that it was endangering the lives of the other two eggs. So the Grovyle decided to stay with the egg until the mother returned, and then she would know what to do. The leafy Pokémon took the egg, crawled into a hollow at the base of the tree, and curled around the egg to make sure it stayed warm.

It started to drizzle a little, and before long the Fletchinder had returned to the nest and realized that one of her eggs had gone missing. In a panic, she called out into the rain, and the Grovyle came out of the hollow to wave at the mother bird. She fluttered down and was relieved to discover that her egg was safe, and thanked the Grovyle generously for his help. However, they still couldn’t find a way to return the little egg to the nest: the Fletchinder couldn’t carry it up, and the Grovyle still couldn’t bring it either. So it was decided that the Grovyle would stay in the hollow with one egg and the Fletchinder would keep the other two eggs warm in the tree.

And thus the two Pokémon became neighbors, and the Fletchinder and the Grovyle became pretty good friends. Some time passed and the eggs eventually hatched, but the egg that the Grovyle attended to hatched an odd-looking Fletchling. She was larger then her siblings, her feathers were minty green and pink, and she had grasses pointing out from her wings and forehead. Despite her differences from her family members, she was loved and accepted all the same. Her mother named her Piper, because she was louder and more chatty than her brother and sister combined.
