Chiyo lives in a penthouse with his mother, and older brothers. It's a little too small for all of them and they really can't afford it, but his mother likes to keep an 'image', opting to forgo basic needs like food and clothing for her kids. Most days, Chiyo eats very little so that there's enough to go around. Most money made goes into her clothes, makeup, and the mortgage. Even the money his older brothers makes goes directly to her.
Chiyo's older brothers and mother are constantly in a bad mood due to the situation they're forced into. This means constant bickering between the three and uncalled for abuse towards Chiyo. So most days, chiyo stays out very late and only comes home for food and to sleep.
Chiyo doesn't talk and tries not to draw attention to himself, in fear of making his school life as bad as his home life.
Adding to this, Chiyo is closeted transgender. He knows his family wouldn't support him, so he never brings it up. Rather than binding, he just wears his baggy jacket all the time and makes sure all his teachers use his preferred pronouns
So, because Chiyo never talks and his brothers lowkey hate him, Chiyo has always had to find his own fun.
He's always had a strange fascination with death and morbid things. Dead bugs, roadkill, blood, etc. He has his own makeup and whatnot that he sometimes uses to make himself look dead or sickly. However, he isnt suicidal, and would never hurt anyone.
Chiyo is really into menhera fashion lately, and buys chokers with whatever money he can come by. ( he doesnt buy food or anything important because he thinks someone will steal it from him. who would steal a choker, right?)
Nephi found him walking home in the rain once and invited him into his house. They've been close ever since.
