Summary

♫  Gentle, innocent, gullible  ♫

A sweet yet naive drummer, who'd like to be more than the "cute" member of the Worthies.

Appearance

Pete is touted as being the "cute" one in the band, and for good reason. The heart-faced boy has big blue eyes and a button nose, so he has his share of girls being instantly attracted to him despite that he's a background player. He has medium brown hair that he grows out past his ears- of which his parents disapprove of. He loves the more casual side of mod fashion, and is often seen wearing turtlenecks and slim trousers. His favourite jumper is his ribbed racing-stripe turtleneck (as seen in these photos: here, here and here). He usually wears his favourite pair of white Oxfords, but also loves wearing felt chukka boots. If not in these casual clothes, he wears a trim suit in a pastel shade; his favourite is his 50's-esque baby blue suit which he often performs in. Being the youngest, he is only 5'3".

Personality

Pete is a sweetheart, a gentleman, and the very definition of naïve. He's big-hearted and always enjoys making friends. He's the type to be incredibly trusting of just about anyone, and you'd be hard pressed to find him harshly disapproving something. He's gentle and kind, but will sometimes have his share of enthusiastic silliness and impishness from time to time. However, thanks to his fellow band members, all of which are his senior (and major influences), Pete takes his role as a musician very seriously. Though the prospects of new clothes and girls are very exciting to him, he takes his drumming much more seriously and sees himself having a career in using the for years to come.

Story

Pete's story takes place in the mid-60's in London. It's the Swinging 60's, and Pete is a nationwide star, after only just turning nineteen. Suddenly, his face is in magazines and on TV screens, and he isn't quite used to all of it yet.

Pete was born in Morecambe, Lancashire to a middle class family on July 6th, 1946. His father was an accountant, and his mother was a home-keeper. He has two younger sisters, Veronica, born in 1948, and Elaine, born in 1950. His family was very proud of their (and their children's) position within the middle class, as both his parents originally coming from working class families. Pete and his sisters have palpable Lancashire accents, but Pete has actively tried to "lose" his accent a little as time goes on, as he doesn't want to be negatively stereotyped. Pete and his sisters had a good education and upbringing, and were raised as very polite, friendly, good natured children. Pete and his sisters got along very well, and it was a rarity for any of the members of the family to fight.

Pete wasn't exposed to much music outside of church as a child, and didn't display any particular musical tendencies from early on. However, he was a naturally creative-minded child, and was always imagining things up. He also watched quite a lot of films in his youth, which inspired him greatly. Pete often says that if he weren't set on a musical career, he'd have worked in the film industry.

As a young teenager in secondary school, Pete was close with a group of friends who were suddenly very enthusiastic about "rock and roll". Pete, being a good kid, was a little apprehensive about music that sounded so rough and tough. However, after hearing a record by Bill Haley and His Comets, Pete was absolutely hooked. The group of friends formed a makeshift band after realizing their newfound tastes. Pete, finding it difficult to play guitar and bass, and not having the best voice, was set on the drums. After playing the drums for the first time, Pete immediately found his calling. To his surprise, rhythm came to him extremely easily, and with a bit of practice he was able to perform fills and play more complex rhythms without a hitch. Pete listened to lots of records and played along with them in order to practice. This band was called "The Morecambes", after their locale and school, and Pete was one of five members. His bandmates at the time were named Paul Stephens (vocals), Ken Jones (lead guitar), Colin Brown (rhythm guitar) and Roger Grant (bass).

The Morecambes didn't last too long. They played a handful of shows at school and at local clubs, but never pulled in much of an audience since they were all self-taught teenagers. After their graduation, the band split up and went their separate ways. Pete was the only one of two members, the other being Ken Jones, who continued on the path of music.

After finishing high school with quite good grades, Pete decided that he wanted to continue attending school, but wanted to make sure he could continue to make music alongside his studies.

Relationships

23656552_LgT.png
Mick Allen

Pete felt like Mick was the quickest to accept him into the band, and enjoys his company the most. Pete is often treated like Mick's younger brother, but enjoys this treatment since he never had the experience of being a younger sibling. Pete idolizes Mick for his confidence and enthusiasm.

Brian Waltham

Pete has always been a little intimidated by Brian, but knows that he means well for the most part. He isn't particularly close with Brian, but knows that he is talented and respects him immensely for it.

John Derrick

Pete loves playing with his eldest bandmate, and is constantly astonished at his skill. Pete often turns to John first if he's having troubles or doubts, since John tends to give the most heart-felt advice. The two have often had rhythm sessions one-on-one so that John can teach Pete more skills, which Pete has constantly cited as inspirational.

Evie Taylor

Pete loves Evie's company and totally sees her as an older sibling- very similar to his relationship with Mick. He is always impressed by her talents, and they enjoy sharing stories and jokes on their studio off-time.

Tommy Lovage

Pete is always been vaguely nervous around Tommy, and he usually sums it up to Tommy being so serious and rigorous compared to his bandmates. He also doesn't want to seem juvenile or un-skilled under Tommy's gaze. Pete definitely does appreciate Tommy's skill, though- and it's probably another reason he's anxious when playing in the studio with him.

Trivia

  • His style of drumming is relatively simple and straight-forward; though he is good at tackling odd rhythms and fills, he tends to lean toward keeping it focused on the beat. His style would be comparable to Mick Avory (Kinks), Geoff Swettenham (Grapefruit), or "Snowy" Fleet (Easybeats). He usually plays on a full Ludwig kit, in a shimmering champagne colour.
  • His appearance has been compared to that of Davy Jones. Unlike him, he's not the best singer.
  • He secretly loves the movie "Bambi".
  • His zodiac sign is Cancer, and his lunar zodiac sign is Fire Dog.
  • His faceclaim is Clark Brandon (though Pete would have a rounder face, bigger eyes, and lighter brown hair), and his voiceclaim is (x). (His voice would be a little high-pitched and rather emotive; his accent would be a slight Lancastrian)
