Ume is the rightful successor of Kyoto's biggest yakuza gang. He, however, preferred to stay away from that kind of lifestyle and live alone in his family's summer home, not wanting to burden anyone with his sickness. Despite his father's pleas for him to come back, it has been years since he lived alone in the quieter part of the town. When he took over the group later on, he would retreat back to his main home, but doing major renovations to create a safe environment for his family.

Ume doesn't look as skinny as he really is when he's wearing his usual yukata and haori. He has pale skin due to not going outside in the sun too much.
Personality
Ume has a very cold front and his lack of expression doesn't help his case either. He would come off as uncaring and sometimes even rude to people that didn't know him; due to the fact that he'd rather keep things to himself and not be afraid to show his indiffrence to others. He's very independent and hate to rely on someone. He would be in a very tough spot if he ever asked someone for help. He doesn't strike up conversation with people nor try to make pointless small talks.
He could be stubborn with his ideals and defensive when people question his decisions, often times would lead him to become a bit hotheaded. When he's set his mind on something, he would keep on pursuing it no matter what.

Story
Although Ume is the main and only successor of one of the most influental Yakuza family in Japan, he escaped from the main house and lived alone in his family's side house due to his sickness. His family begged him to come back home but he refused since he thought that he will just held the family back. He spent his day trying to heal himself and stay inside his house.
Childhood
Ume was born with a rare condition that make him have extreme fatigue even when he's done little to no activities at all. He was still loved by his family, but as he grew up more and more, he began to realize how much sacrifice his family had to endure to really take a good care of him. He began to feel indebted, often times pushing himself to do chores and activities that would often times makes him pass out in the corridor somewhere in the sizeable house.
Kids in the area started to make hurtful remarks on him, saying that his family's a bunch of killers and his birth was a form of karma to the family. Ume left them to laugh at themselves, but inside, he felt a deep, painful realization that it might be true. His mother, for one, passed away while giving birth to him and he knew it pained his father much greater than the painful smile he always put in front of his son.
All throughout his childhood, Ume felt hatred towards himself. He was scared and confused, and it translated to him rebelling against his father and running from home a couple times. The people who he hung out with was treating him nicely, but he knew that they only did so because of his father's gang.
Adult Life
Not wanting to take over the group, Ume insisted that he moved out to one of their many summer home. After much coercion and empty threats, Ume's father agreed to let him go, but that Ume must go back home and take over the group once his father had passed away. With a heavy heart, Ume accepted and moved straight to his new house. His father assigned an old carer to help him with house chores, and as much as he hated to admit it, he wouldn't be alive now if it wasn't for the carer's dedicated service.
Relationships
Angelo
After almost accidentally becoming one of Angelo's customer, Ume developed a sudden attraction to the younger-looking male. Even after "living together", he was still shocked when he remembered that Angelo is actually three years older than him.
Hironori
Although acting like he was constantly annoyed by his father's overbearing, far too loving self, Ume's very much grateful to have a parent like Hironori. Ume held a high degree of respect and admiration for his father's leadership skills.
Himawari
Ume always wondered why people in the family would always tell him he's exactly like his late mother. Although never having the chance to meet her, Himawari's constantly on his mind. He has a room for her butsudan in his house.
Trivia
Is a really good cook, specialty is omurice.
Is better at doing things now than his younger years, but he still need at least 10-12 hours of sleep everyday or he would crash.
A few of the younger group members were so infatuated with him that they travelled kilometres away just to bring him gifts and visit him.
Often cries in the middle of the night when he truly feels alone.
Hates the fact that he loves Japanese-styled clothings so much. He would get uncomfortable when he has to wear modern clothes.
