In the context of city living, Basil is simple and easy-going. He lets the rush of the city take him where it wants him, and doesn't really have the voice to complain. In Moondrop Valley, he comes off as a little scattered, a little fast-paced and high-strung. It's worse on slow days, and even though the valley isn't in the stone age or anything, it feels like life moves at a snail's pace out here. At work and around those he isn't familiar with, he pretends to be a little mysterious, answering things vaguely or leaving them open-ended. He tends to be openly flirty and over-familiar, using pet names etc. He's been told he is a good listener, but often distances his own experiences from the experiences of others.
Having lived his entire life in the city, he's got a bit of a particular taste for goods. He's hesitant to try new things because he's so used to eating what he's used to, but a tomato is a tomato, right? Currently, he sees Whimsy Town as a fling, a temporary arrangement until he gets tired of it and moves back to the city. Further down, he's scared of getting used to a slower-paced life. While he misses the convenience and late nights of the city, he can't say that he minds the nature-silence of the valley.

City slicker Basil Castro doesn't expect to find himself in the countryside. Well... The relative countryside at least. As far as he's concerned, this is the countryside. There are farms here, plenty of open, green space, and no convenience stores. Awful. Terrible. He supposes it's his own fault for listening to his coworkers chattering and deciding to hop on the bandwagon. Something about going off the grid being great for your complexion or something. Straight garbage. Sweating isn't good for his complexion. It's not dewy, it's not cute. Pulling your shirt off of your back every five seconds really isn't cute. But the job itself isn't too bad, and he doesn't have to worry about rush-hour traffic out here. And besides, there's something satisfying about crafting your own perfumes the old way. No synthetic fragrances, no nonsense. Just Basil and 80-90% alcohol concoctions.
