- He absentmindedly hums tune while he's at work, which he learned before he became a tengu.
- In the summer, he spends a lot of time at the various rivers and lakes. To him, they are his personal birdbath.

Izumi and his sister were both pet cockatiels who were gifted to a young child. Being under the child's care, they thrived and lived happy lives, even going as far as to mimic the children's calls.
The child eventually became an adult, and had to move away from home to the city to continue with their education. Left in the care of the child's father, they bid them a tearful farewell.
At first, aside from their guardian's absense, things seemed to continue on as relatively normal. Routine and the like continued for the two, though they sang less and less.
As time went on the father started to forget more and more, and one autumn day the temperature unexpectedly dropped. The father thinking nothing of it, left the two birds to their own devices. If not for a wandering Kami, the pair would have surely perished. They were granted a second chance at life, awarded a chance to live on not as birds but as tengu.
Loyal as they were, they decided to stick around and help the old man despite his misdeeds. With his waining memory he accepted them as his children, and they set off into the world in order to find a way to provide for themselves and help pay him back for the time he had helped them.
