The Familiar

the witch’s first and only friend, the familiar is a cat demon who was once human. his family was killed, so he made a deal with another demon, giving up his humanity in exchange for the power to take revenge. he lived as a vengeful demon for years until he ended up in the woods after being defeated, where he met the witch. they developed a bond, and the two of them eventually formed a familiar pact, sharing magic.

he takes care of the house, doing the cooking and cleaning, and helps the witch with business, assisting the witch with spells when she needs his help and venturing out into the real world to retrieve materials. he retains his spirit’s powers, being able to shapeshift and perform other magic, and he usually goes out in cat guise. he is very proud and often grouchy, but beneath that, he’s fiercely protective of those he loves. he longs for his old life, but he can never return to it, so he distracts himself from thoughts of the past by throwing himself into his work.
