Gabe's Links
To say Gabe's track record with relationships has been less than stellar is an understatement. It was never high on his priority list but there was a time he was ready to give up on the idea all together. His bond with Cadi was far from instantaneous; it took work, patience, and an unspoken dedication that was well worth the wait. Gabe is ready to spend the rest of his life with this girl and that is something he never thought he would say.
She never thought she'd find somebody who meets her in her mess, and yet here she is, and she never wants to leave.
To put it in simplest terms, Diana really saved his ass. Gabe was in dire need of employment and Diana was suffering without an accountant. Now he's running numbers for her bar in quite literally the most comfortable and fulfilling job he has ever had. He's grateful to her more than he can say, and not just because of the paycheck; it's a nice bonus that she doubles as a friend as well as a reasonable boss.
Diana, being desperate for friends and an accountant, literally couldn't have been happier with meeting Gabe. He has answered her damn dreams like a Knight in a shroud of mathematical wonder and snarky friendship. She adores him and his sarcastic and witty nature. She may have only just met him somewhat recently, but she already has basically adopted him as a brother.
It's a mystery to Gabe what Kaipo sees in him, or any of the spriggans for that matter, but the more time passes the more he is forced to accept his role as an uncle to more than just his immediate family. He appreciates Kaipo's calm and quiet demeanor, and Gabe tries not to damage whatever image of him Kaipo has constructed for himself.
Kaipo adores his Uncle Gabe, though he was slow to open up to the quiet man bc Kaipo thought he was too cool to interact with. Nowadays, Po continues to be enamoured with Gabe's presence, understanding exactly how much he has managed to help Po's momma and what a good friend he is to both her and Rah.
Gabe and Rah aren't exactly close but they get along well enough. They mainly interact the sparse times Gabe makes the drive down to the bar in person, but Rah has a knack for cutting tension that Gabe appreciates. He is also more than ready to dish out any embarrassing dirt on Diana he can, which is always amusing and helps keep things in perspective.
It's safe to say that Gabe absolutely loathes Damien. The ease with which he carries himself despite being bogged down by a sizable ego that would be impressive if it wasn't so repugnant brings Gabe nothing but discomfort. Damien's flippant attitude, cavalier actions, and his tendency to show off make Gabe wish misfortune on the man, even if they're only harmless inconveniences or short lived embarrassments. Damien is so self absorbed and air headed that Gabe wants to see him fail at every turn.
Truth be told, Gabe barely even registers on Damien's radar. He knows the guy's important for Diana's business, so he tries not to be too hard on him, but with how clear Gabe is about not liking him it's difficult for Dame to resist a prank or two. Damien makes efforts to be harmless toward Gabe but also to be as annoying as humanly possible before Diana gets fed up with his antics. He just thinks it's funny how much Gabe hates him when there's nothing he can do about it.
