Sage x Sylvain
- - Pair grew up with one another
- - We’re close as children due to business between their parents
- - Sage’s father wasn’t particularly fond of them but liked Sylvain well enough
- - They always got along relatively well
- - Sage found comfort in the friendship as she knew she wasn’t very welcome at home
- - He was a big brother figure to her for a long time, as he was with many of the others, and often seemed to cling to his coat rails when she could
- - He felt bad for her, a victim of the crest system, even if she didn’t bear one
- - They were able to bond over their similar dislike of noble standards and crests and became close confidants with one another over time
- - She feels for his mistreatment and use for his crest and he feels for her situation, having lost her mother and treatment of distain at levels due to her lack of one as well
- - He flirted with her every now and again, as he tended to with everyone, but she never paid it much mind
- - He knew he was hurting and wanted to be there for him even when all else might fail him
- - Likewise he wanted to be there for her when the pressure finally broke her down, knowing she could only stand so tall on her own (especially after she found out the truth of her moms “banishment”)
- - He was the one who gave her the idea to attend the officers academy
- - Told her it would help her get away from the stress
- - And she believed he was right
- - Enrolled and followed her friends to the Blue Lions
- - Proved to be a hard worker but was a bit concerned about Sylvain’s work ethic
- - Was well aware he was more able than he made himself out to be, and encouraged him to try and keep his focus and ethic up
- - But most of all wanted to watch and make sure he was functioning okay
- - She never really minded his flirting around as long as it never brought anyone major trouble
- - So long as he was happy for a moment in his life, so too was she
- - She knew there was a deeper more cynical part of his being, and wanted to show him that someone really did care, and a lot
- - He felt the same, but wasn’t really sure how to show as much. Many of his relationships had been shallow and it was strange to think of Sage as being someone who would be there through everything
- - What he didn’t realize was his developing of a deeper affection for her below the shallow waves he had been sending out through the sea of other women. He wasn’t aware and didn’t know how to deal
- - Sage, however, was well aware of her feelings. However, she was afraid of poring them on him, aware of his already fragile state on the subject of such things
- - So she kept it all to herself, and their relationship remained close but platonic
- - Things began to change as the year went on, however, and more stressed came about
- - She was worried about Sylvain’s confrontation with his brother despite his words
- - And he became extremely concerned for her due to her father’s strange behavior and callings on her
- - And then after a battle routing an attempted assassination of Sage’s father, he was hell bound on speaking truths to his daughter before it was too late (mother might have sent them I have yet to decide )
- - He showed up at the momentary, seemingly very sick, yet determined to speak with his daughter
- - Sylvain was insistent on being there while Sage spoke with her father, offering a shoulder
- - After Sage’s father told her the truth of her mothers leaving, Sage was devastated and became extremely withdrawn
- - He went to talk with her after the ordeal and her own forced self isolation, begging her to come back out to everyone
- - She admitted she was scared, and that “no one ever wanted me around”
- - To which he replied: “that’s not true. Your father did. And I did. I do. I need you here.”
- - She was very surprised by his insistence and sudden “confession” at level
- - He admitted he cared about her in a different way than he had care about many of the other women he has sought anything with, and wanted to be there for her, even if she didn’t feel the same way
- - She of course, did, and made it quite clear by her throwing herself into his arms
- - Initiate relationship
- - He wasn’t sure how to work a serious relationship. This was something he wanted to cherish and swore his loyalty to her
- - Lots of little love bites, hugs and height difference moments
- - He somehow managed to stop his mass flirting, just as he promised, surprising everyone around them
- - Sage was happy but still shy about the thing. This is the first time she had taken him seriously and was wondering how many moments of the past had been serious
- - He saves a dumb drawing she made for him in her childhood and she’s embarrassed he keeps it around
