Lyla Galahen

*Pardon the mess just jotting notes here for the time being*

Lyla was born in the elven slums of what used to be a bustling elven city. Before she was born a cataclysm decimated a large portion of the Elven Empire, leaving large amounts of their territory to be swallowed up by their human neighbors. Lyla grew up in such a city.

Despite the elves being lower citizens of her home, Lyla's parents were sure to preserve their culture to pass to their daughter.

Lyla spent much of her childhood playing with Elyssia and Ventus while the two were attending Lafyette's Institute of Magic. Elyssia usually roping both into all sorts of mischief.

After leaving school, Lyla did not see her friends again for several years. During this time her parents fell ill. Humans refused to treat them and any elves of substantial skill left the city a long time ago. Lyla spent everyday on the street begging for help. Her begging was met with hostility from some humans. They attempted to assault her but she quickly proved herself the stronger. One of the humans was a military officer who reported the incident to his superior. Lyla was arrested and brought to trial. The trial was a shame as favor was clearly shown to the military officer, however a general intervened before a sentence could be rendered. General Artorias, spoke out against the corruption noting that the elf girl acted in self-defense. He had the officer court-martialed and tried for assault. As an apology to Lyla, Artorias dispatched his personal mage-assistant to treat her parents. Feeling indebted to Artorias and seeing an opportunity to gain a position to better life for herself, she requested to serve under Artorias. Artorias accepted and after a brief period of service as a general soldier she was appointed as a member of his personal squad.

Sometime after she became a Paladin, she was reunited with Ventus when he joined their ranks.

Lyla died follow an incident where an execution was taking place. The execution was of a family who were charged with treason and spying for an enemy nation. The evidence was overwhelming and they were sentenced. However Ventus was friends with the family and wished to save them. Even though they were guilty, he crashed the execution and fought to them. In the ensuing chaos, Lyla chose to side with her friend. Despite their skills, both warriors struggled to fend off the entire village and other stationed soldiers while protecting the family. Lyla a fatal wound in her side after a village stabbed her with a pitchfork. Lyla, Ventus, and the family were able to get outside of the village before succumbing to her wounds. With her death, Ventus was burdened with guilt and rage. This lead him to forego any mercy, and slaughter everyone in the village.

Ventus buried  her, her body was later recovered by a necromancer. The necromancer reanimated her and used her as a personal bodyguard, robbed of her freewill, she could only hope for death to claim her once more. She once again encountered her best friends, Elyssia and Ventus. Neither could bring themselves to free her from her torment, and Lyla nearly killed Ventus. Hikari broke her personal vow to never kill another in order to rescue her beloved. Lyla’s last sight was Hikari’s tears. Her last thought was “Thank you for saving me”
