Elyssia Arcano

Even amongst notable mage families, Elyssia is a prodigy. She excels at non-corporeal elemental magic, however she is known to dabble in all sorts of magic. Part of this is due to her natural inclination towards academic pursuits, but also due to her inheritance of the family magic eye. The magic eye that serves as her right eye, is able to analyze and dissect most forms of magic. This gives her shortcuts to replication, however she still needs a basic understanding of that particular magic's principles in order to use it. Additionally, while she may be able to replicate a magic she is not talented with, such as earth magic, it will cost her more energy and be of lesser quality than someone who has skill in that field.

Elyssia is a very proud and confident individual, which some people interpret as her thinking she is better than others. Her zealous thirst for knowledge can sometimes lead her to asking inappropriate questions. When something grabs her curiosity, all else fades away. Elyssia enjoys teasing others and likes to keep things upbeat.

Despite all her talent as a mage, she struggles elsewhere. She is a very poor melee combatant, if one can counter her magic she is defenseless. She frequently struggles with maintaining relationships, with boyfriends/girlfriends lasting a month at the most. This is often due to them either feeling inferior to her, thinking that she is an airhead, or that she is more concerned with her practice as a mage. Elyssia often fails with simple tasks, as she uses overly complex methods to reach her goals. For example, if she pushed a door and it did not open she would sooner destroy the door or open a portal to the other side rather than pull the door open. She enjoys cooking, however, she has this weird obsession with butter so most her food is a heart attack waiting to happen (assuming it is even edible in the first place). She is can be a bit of a slob leaving books, scrolls, and her notes all over the place.

Elyssia gets along exceptionally well with her family. Her father is currently regarded as one of the greatest mages of this era. Her mom is also well known within her home country; however, she has mostly stepped away from mage society and politics, instead she uses her magic to help commoners. Elyssia, has two sisters, Arianna and Irene who she loves dearly. That being said, that does not stop her from pranking them from time to time.

Elyssia's best friend is Ventus. They met in Lafyette's Insitute of Magic as children. Her original interest in him was due to his magic that took the form of a silver flame. Even with her magic eye, she could not understand what it was exactly. They developed an unlikely friendship in their joint pursuit to better understand his power. She taught him the basics of magic, and he taught her about the various creatures he and his tribe would hunt, including their alchemic properties. After she and Ventus left Lafyette's Insitute of Magic she went on and made a name for herself as a great sorcerer. She would assist various nobles of different races in an effort to establish a trade of knowledge. This made her unpopular within most human societies where racism and anti-magic sentiments were on the rise. She eventually caught the eye of a General Artorias from a very small nation that was quickly expanding it's territory. In her work with him she was reunited with Ventus, who was then one of 12 Paladins under the General. Together they encountered the peculiar sword, Joseph. Shortly after she moved on in pursuit of her own projects and only saw her friend again when he became a fugitive.

Elyssia would later join Ventus on his travels.
