About

Known as simply Loreleia normally, she follows the enchanting nature of the fey creature she's taken for a fake name, sewing beguile and seduction being her main sources of trickery. However, please understand-- she takes no real personal joy out of her pursuits, simply knowing them as the only real tools at her disposal to get what she wants. Tricky and distrusting, Loreleia is a tepid ally, with serious commitment issues making her ready to run on the spot. She's not exactly hateful, but not so accustomed to positivity and empathy that she knows accurately how to direct it honestly, ending up almost rather comically brusque and rude in the face of honest feelings. However, her element is deception and seduction, and should she put her sights on accomplishing this goal, more often than not, she'll succeed and use this connection to get a gift, or a shiny trinket for her troubles. She treats positive interaction like a transaction, and almost always expects something for any amount of kindness she offers. She's shrewd and cruel, and often believes everyone elses kindness has an ulterior motive, as well. She's got a dry sense of humor, and has honed her sardonic tones into a sharp blade. She insists and is almost proud of her bad reputation, and has a very low self esteem. Insults don't tend to hit her, because for the most part, she almost always agrees with them. It's hard to make her feel any worse than she already does on a day to day basis.

Background

Talindra Amakiir was born to a disgraced painter after the painter had had an affair with a high status elven noble in their elven city. Quarantined to the outside of town, Talindra's mother taught Talindra all about the beauty of nature, of painting, and of the fey. The fey, taking refuge and entertainment within her mothers home, offered repayment for the womans unduly kindness by playing with the child. They were even willing to teach the child the rule of never giving your name to the fey, and this growing up was peaceful, for Talindra. However, eventually, an Orc clan made plans to lay seige to their great elven city, making path through the outskirts where Talindra and her mother lived, first. At first, the Orcs had intended to kill the two, but the fey offered their last repayment to the Amakiir household-- ensuring they did not die at that moment. Instead, both mother and daughter were taken as slaves, and a good chunk of the city fell alongside them. Taken back to the slaves quarters, Talindra, at the young elven age of 15, was separated from her mother-- her mother going into pen C, and Talindra going into A. She was then, branded with the letter on her neck, a permanent sign of her predicament. She stayed within the Orc's territory for over 80 years as a slave, seeing generation come and go of the same hateful slavers. The last time she'd seen her mother was when they were seperated all those years ago. She was sad, she was tired, and she wanted out, more than anything. Unbeknownst to her, a Fall Fey Court Lord was very envious of how nicely the Summer Court Fey were treated in her youth, while they were always turned away. Out of spite, the Pumpkin King, pretended to extend a hand and offer to help her, implying there was little cost-- just tell him her name, so his 'magic' can work. Desperate to get out and unthinking of the consequences, Talindra gave her name, and therein, became fey property. She lost memory of her name, but gained enough magical power to escape the bonds that held her down. Now, she's sent all over to horrible and dangerous situations for the Fall Courts amusement in her suffering. She's taken up many names, and will continue to switch them out, but currently goes by Loreleia.

Alternate Background

In another life, her mother was a painter. In this one, her mother was an elven nun, thrown out due to breaking her chastity vow. Still very devoted to her god, Talindra's mother spent time telling Talindra the glorious stories of the elven pantheon, before she would go out to hunt game and do other things to take care of the family. Little to her mothers knowledge, an Empyrean, the son of the very elven god she worshipped so fervently, had fallen uncomfortably in love with the child, appearing beside her as her 'imaginary friend,' as he waited for her to grow into a woman, so he could take her to his own ethereal plane. However, spending time on earth corrupts Empyreans, and as he felt himself waning, he retreated back to his own plane, deciding to wait from afar as she grew up. However, just as he turned his back to her, is when a group of Cthulu Cultists stormed the city, eventuallys coming to the outskirts to take both Talindra and her mother as slaves. Their purpose was carnal, and horrible, and their only 'salvation,' according to the cultists, were to pray to Cthulu, so that they might join the cults ranks. Talindra's mother cracked under the pressure and constant abuse, running away and leaving her daughter alone in the night. Talindra stayed their for 80 years, just about, always refusing to join, and putting faith in the gods her mother held so dearly-- they must come save her, right? In mocking of Talindra, the cultists carved angel wings deep into her back, and made her a permanent slave, no hope of redemption, and meant to be used for sacrifice. Talindra was at the end of her wits, and in that moment, her childhood friend appeared-- and unlike the kindness she had expected, he was cruel, he blamed everything that happened to her body, her temple, on her, rather than the people who actually committed those sins. He saw her as impure, but was still obsessed with her, and offered her his power so long as she went about purifying herself, and making her deserving of him. Betrayed by this hate, but with the only other option being death, Talindra accepted this deal. She escaped into a town, where she inadverdently met a kind ex adventurer blacksmith, who helped teach her common, and helped get her back on her feet. She spent five years within that town, and grew to love this man who extended kindness to her, rather than judgement. The Empyrean, wildly jealous and seeing it as the ultimate betrayal, forcibly wiped Talindra's memory of him with a godly amulet, and forced her to walk out of the town, sending her out on her first quest. She became known as a hero of the elven gods, and was highly heralded despite her brusque and resentful personality, and in death, those aspects of her were forgotten with time, leaving only grand legends. However, unbeknownst to the mortal realm-- Talinra Amakiir is still alive, and the fey and celestials alike have made a fatal mistake. A summer fey lord, amused by the drama surrounding Talindra, took her before her soul could truly be collected by the Raven Queen, allowing her to stay in the feywilds, ordering her around, but never truly owning her. She intends to use the fey to lay seige against the heavens, and kill all celestials, warped by spite and hatred.

• Talindra's alternate background is only, at this point, available if she's to be an NPC, and more notably, one against the party at the start.
• Her name is a reference to Marilyn Monroe in Gentleman Prefer Blondes
• She's meant to be your archetypical sexy elf lady, but more interesting than the one note archetype tends to allow.
• As a pact of the blade warlock (NPC), her weapon is a truly divine weapon, and one whispered about in legends and stories.
