Chen Wei (surname Chen, given name Wei) grew up in a turbulent household in the outskirts of Beijing with both his parents and his grandparents on his mother's side. His parents fought often and also believed strongly in 打骂教育, or hitting/scolding education, where children are usually beat physically to grow up to be a 'better person'. As a result, although he realized the importance of conforming, he became jittery, hated being touched whether with malicious or innocent intent, and often cried himself to sleep after being beat or hearing screaming and things breaking in his household.

When he was 11, his parents divorced after his father had an extramarital affair with a younger woman. His mother, enraged, kicked both her husband and her son out of the house. Not wanting a child to burden him with his new girlfriend, he abandoned him in Haidan district before going to see his girlfriend a couple blocks down, and never coming back. After waiting until the early morning, he finally realized his dad wasn't coming back and was overriden with grief until a street sweeper found him cold and shiverring.

Feeling pity on him, the sweeper took him in and let him live with him and his wife in a small underground apartment, both middle aged people but without children. For a while Chen Wei lived happily, although poorly, with people who were generally kind to him and didn't beat him. He lived with this family for 2 long years and did his best to help around the house, care for the husband and wife, and even learned to cook to relieve some burden off of the wife who also had to work. Though eventually when money became scarce, later the sweeper too abandoned him, though at least told him directly and told him to do his best to survive on his own.

Too old for the orphanage and too young to legally work on his own at 14, without even papers proving his own existance he only could do sketchy work and sometimes get stood up on payment while being threatened to be reported to the government for sleeping on the streets and in abandoned buildings. Slowly, the jittery but kind boy became much more sinister and began preying on local university students to pity him and give him money using all sorts of tactics- If they wouldn't give him money, he'd find a way to steal it. But when winter came, it became too cold on Beijing nights to sleep on the streets and began begging people on the street if he could stay with them for just a night, without any success. Hotels were too expensive and he was running out of luck. As the snow began to fall, he slowly felt himself freezing to death.

By chance, a Nigerian doctorate student had to return back to Peiking Unviersity at night because he forgot an important USB. Seeing the boy, he immediately tried to wake him up and bring him to a hospital. Instead, he was surprised when the young boy gripped desparately onto his winter jacket and begged to let him sleep at his place.

Luckily refusing and first sending him to the nearby PKU People's Hospital, on his own dime too. Treated for minor hypothermia, later he took Wei back to his own place to care for him over the weekend.

Introducing himself to Wei as soon to be Dr. Olatunji Adeyemi, he was an international student from Nigeria who was studying medicine at Peiking University. Wei doesn't know much about him as he kept most of his life private, but despite that showed immense kindness to Wei. And since Adeyemi was studying to be a doctor, he was able to also provide for Wei and send him to a Beijing high school.

In school, he finally was able to grow more as a person and began to take an interest in martial arts for fun and medicine after being inspired by the doctor that was caring for him. He started to get over his jitteriness and distaste for physical touch, and tried to become a better person too. He could finally focus on school and his future and owed it to Dr. Adeyemi (who received his doctorate a few months after initially taking in Chen Wei). Unfortunately a family emergency happened all of a sudden for the doctor back in Nigeria and he had to return for good. Within a few days, around a month before he was supposed to take the gao kao and graduate high school, everything crumbled to pieces and he was left alone again, this time with a few hundred yuan and one of the doctor's jackets as a parting gift.

Combined with the stress of everything going on and no way to pay for a place to live, at least he was of working age now. Although he should have been prepping for the gao kao to hopefully get into a good college, he was grief stricken and forced to work inconvinient hours as a cashier in a convinience store. On his way biking home from work one day, he wasn't paying enough attention to avoid a collision when a drunk driver was swerving towards him. He was killed on impact, and the culprit sobered up and fled from the scene.

After becoming an FMN

Given a 'second chance', he now roams around Beijing while working in a strange martial arts building in a more run-down area of Beijing. His wings and flowers aren't visible to anyone else and no one from his past life remembers him, but he is able to remember most of his past life. He still keeps the jacket Dr. Adeyemi gave him, though has decorated it with some pins to keep it from falling off his much smaller shoulders.

Relationships
