Ki is introspective, cool-headed, intuitive, and lazy. He values common sense, adaptability, intelligence, facts, and fun over boring. Interesting is his top priority, so sometimes that takes precedence over the orthodox approach. However, he's generally a well-behaved person; it's the reasons why that might not be what one expects. He has a personal value system that he lives by. Most of the time it overlaps with clan values (tidiness, etiquette, a quiet demeanor, education, clan loyalty) but there are a few areas where it's a tad strange (like his penchant for asking WAY too many questions about EVERYTHING because he wishes to know things).

He actually has a surprisingly firm sense of self-control that one might not expect from his nonchalant attitude. He's terribly skilled at keeping a completely straight face even in the midst of saying or doing the most bizarre things, to the point that many can't even tell when he's joking vs. when he's being serious. But what he deems worthy of the effort can be somewhat skewed. I.e. will he not lose his cool in the face of a rival and/or enemy? Oh yes. Will he eat this whole cake in 20 minutes? Also yes.

Still, he'll happily take on the role of Responsible Friend™ because that means that if he slips up and joins an "irresponsible" person in some antics, he can always scoot and let the "irresponsible" person take the flak.

Human behavior fascinates him and he enjoys people-watching, and occasionally testing others to gauge their responses to certain opinions or circumstances in order to further his understanding of the human race. If bored, he'll spontaneously start a philosophical discussion or adopt a momentary identity just to see how bizarre he can paint himself as before the other person gets suspicious. He has a passive interest in the political realm, but not nearly enough ambition or commitment to actually dive into it. He just appreciates it from afar.

Biography

Life has been so far so easy for Ki, having both his parents to teach him the importance of both imagination and hard work (though he lagged in the latter) with their love and care, and two siblings to keep him humble. He was low-maintenance personality-wise, but had a quiet yet insatiable curiosity that threatened to get him into trouble at times. His parents did their best to manage this curiosity without stifling it... within reason.

Itsuki is a patient and sensible man who owns a tea shop in the village, after an injury retired him from his shinobi duties. Mie is a chunin, a bold and sometimes harsh woman, and the one who takes charge and pushes Ki to pick up his own slack. The two married out of a sense of duty to their clan. While they don't always see eye to eye, they've certainly developed a fondness for one another.

Ki's relationship between his parents is easy and simple on the surface, bonding with his father through honesty and understanding, and his mother through logic and reasoning. Ki acknowledges that he's not as driven as perhaps he should be, and his parents will be the first to know when he finds something to sink his teeth into. His parents don't really have high hopes for him at this point, though they do expect he'll straighten out and discover a positive drive (preferably toward clan values or the specialty). Ki values autonomy and takes things at his own pace. They put their hopes in their two other children instead. This however, causes a bit of dissention, as because they've mostly given up on him, he often gets the feeling they've pegged him in their minds, pocketed him to their impression of who he is, which he's. 99.9% positive is incorrect.

Trivia

• He has a strange tendency of making hats out of things that are very much not hats.
• Do not touch his scarf. Or his food.
• He's empathetic, but not sympathetic. which can come across as being high-minded and calloused. i assure you, he is not so.
• He's loved cats since forever and would pass the time by playing with them outside. One black cat in particular took to following him around/playing with his scarf tails and he has since dubbed her as Mame.
• He subconsciously demands no more than consistency from the world and when it doesn't give it to him, he gets a little... irritated.
• He has a circadian rhythm disorder which makes his body clock fail to register the difference between day and night, and so he just naps at intervals instead, 24/7.
• Some things go completely over his head, like the impression he makes on other people, or emotional engagement. Please be patient with him and explain if he asks questions, because he really does want to understand.
• As an INTP, he often comes across like a "Warm Machine"--able to appear friendly and relatable on the surface, but struggles to connect with people on a deeper, emotional level.
• More than anything, he just wants to be free to be his weird self without worrying about people shoving his cubic self into a round socket he can't fit in.
• Despite the previous point, he's an energy conservationist so if something doesn't seem worth the trouble of fighting, he'll roll with it and make it work.
