Hotaru is a calm and collected individual who has quite the playful side. They go around and explore the lands, recording and discovering new creatures along his travels. He studies these new creatures to understand more about them, and if he ever comes across one that is hurt or injured he helps them. He owns a large ranch where many creatures from all different areas live or come to relax at. When he is not out exploring, he is at his ranch with all the creatures he has met, helping them in any way he can or just relaxing with them.
