Personality
Apollo’s friendly grin and musical voice have endeared him to the hearts of many. He loves to make people smile and is always willing to listen to your troubles and lend a hand. Apollo is a genuinely nice man. Much of his time is spent going around, playing music and trying to lift spirits. He also advocates for peace, believing there to be good in the world.
Apollo is a little bit vain. He likes the way he looks and he spends a lot of time on it. When he’s not helping out his fellow people, he’s spending a lot of time on himself. After all, he feels like he deserves it (which he probably does, he’s super cool). His morning routine takes ages - mostly by choice.
Despite all his willingness to help people, however, Apollo isn’t particularly great at reading the room. Beyond the basics (if people are having fun or not), it takes him a while to realize how people are feeling. Emotions are difficult to understand, and although he wants to be emotionally intelligent it just takes a while to get through his skull.
Apollo is doing his best with numbers and things, but intellectual, academic stuff baffles him to no end. He’s impressed by people who are good with them (that’s why he married his wife after all), but it all just flies over his head. This has lead to multiple instances of frustration that have accidentally set things on fire.
Even though Apollo has a cheery exterior, he secretly feels like he can’t ever live up to his parents’ legacy. He feels so small and inadequate compared to them, and it’s his biggest weakness. He gets very upset whenever he is compared to them and lashes out. Either that, or he clams up. It’s simply too painful for him to think about.
Design Notes
- Apollo is able to shift into the ringox feral form.
- Apollo’s triangle markings are made by having four layers of the same color. The bottom layers is set to roughly 35% opacity, the next 45%, the next 55%, and the final layer 100% opacity. The lightest markings are on the 35% opacity layer and so forth. This process is used both for the pinkish markings and the yellow markings.
- Apollo’s ring is optional to draw as he doesn’t keep it out most of the time.
- Apollo tends to wear drapey clothing. He likes dresses especially, but won’t say no to a good pair of pants with a big cloak.
Trivia
- Apollo is proficient in playing a lot of instruments, including the trumpet, the saxophone, the guitar, the piano, the ukelele, and the lyre. He knows others too, but these are the ones he plays the most.
- Apollo could produce recordings of his music and/or sign onto a record label, but he has no desire to have recordings. He especially doesn’t want to tie himself down. Also, Apollo doesn’t actually care about money, he just wants to make people’s day better with random performances.
- To be quite honest, Apollo fits the definition of “himbo” almost to a T. Admittedly, the concept doesn’t exist in modern Golden Isles, but from a meta perspective he absolutely is.
- Apollo is quite the skilled flyer, and often incorporates flying into his shows because it’s so impressive.
- Apollo’s flames aren’t actually dangerous most of the time - they’re just harmless flickers of light. It’s only when he wants them to be actual fire that they’re dangerous.
History
Apollo was born because of Sol and Annalise’ brief relationship. His parents didn’t stay together, but they remained decently close while he was young. Unfortunately, Annalise didn’t give him too much attention because she was more interested in furthering her own career rather than being a family. So, Apollo was predominantly raised by his father, Sol. Sol was a very good dad.
Inspired by his mother (and perhaps longing to get her attention), Apollo took up being a wandering bard. He didn’t feel the need to worry about money or resources because despite everything, his mom still gave him funds as sort of a consolation for not being available. Yay?
Apollo met Carolyn while he was performing at the shrine one day. She was the only one who stuck around for his whole performance, so he decided to get to know her. They became fast friends after discovering that they had a surprising amount in common.
It took a while for Apollo and Carolyn to transform their friendship into romance. There was nothing wrong with remaining friends, of course, but they found themselves spending more and more time with each other. Romance was something neither of them knew how to navigate, so it took forever for them to figure everything out.
It took Apollo a while to be ready to settle down. Luckily, around the time he felt ready Carolyn was also ready. So, the two of them found a nice place to live and Carolyn started up her business, which would suddenly become the focal point of their lives. Not that they cared, of course.

Apollo and Carolyn have a very fun dynamic. They’re both fairly energetic people, so they’re often doing many things together. They love each other very much, and are totally chill with not being around each other all the time. Also, they have an open relationship (so long as everyone is honest about everything). Apollo adores his wife greatly. How could he not? She’s so cool, and knows so many things!
Apollo has a weird relationship with his mom. He certainly respects her for her work - she’s done many impressive things throughout her life. He’s especially in awe of her music. However, he doesn’t idolize her. She was never there for him while he was a kid and left him to be raised by his dad. They have a fairly awkward relationship and don’t talk much.
It’s very obvious that Apollo takes after his dad, Sol. It helps that he was predominantly raised by Sol. Like father, like son! Apollo feels like he can go to his dad whenever he has problems. He’s very close with Sol. Apollo has probably given him a lot of #1 dad mugs by now.
Almost everyone knows that Charlie has a crush on Apollo, including Apollo. He’d very much like to engage with Charlie on more than a vague platonic level, but Carolyn is very adamantly against it. It’s understandable, considering Charlie is her employee, but still! He seems like a very nice man and Apollo would like to get to know him better.
