He grew up to a very wealthy and prosperous trading family. When he had become of age, he had joined the naval academy since it's what his father wanted. He had hoped for Shepherd to grow into a strong and dependable man, Shepherd had thought he wouldn't enjoy the training or the like but stayed when he found out that he very much enjoyed the activities and camaraderie there.
Later life
After the naval academy, he went straight to work and has been ever since he was a young man. Not that he really has time for any other thing now. He does try to keep his own personal and work life separate but his friends like to think otherwise and blur the lines for him. He can let lose when he wants to but hardly ever does. Shepherd has an image to maintain.

- He absolutely hates anything to do with bugs, calls them horrible little creatures and will swat at them at any moment.

- Despite how he looks, he's quite strong and able to hold himself up in a fight but is easily toppled over due to his towering height. He knows he needs to work on it but he has other things more pressing to do.

His best friend since he was a child. Their parents were friends and thought that they would get along as well. He looks out for him, only wanted him to be successful in life even though he does not approve of some of his life choices he makes.

His favorite sibling, his only sibling. Their mother had her when Shepherd was a young adult already. He does have some trouble trying to connect with her but at least he tries. He thinks of her as his little princess. His own home is her's as well and enjoys having her around.
