By all appearances, Ephraim is your well to do lord of a small village in the 1660s. Despite his race, his family is said to be connected to the queen herself however, also due to his race, he is quite literally the black sheep of the family. No one would admit it but they're pretty sure Ephraim's father was already dead by the time his mother became pregnant with him. Luckily, she had already given birth and raised two boys who were compassionate enough not to kill her or Ephraim despite the laws of the land. Due to the fact that he was a smirk on the family name, he and his mother were sent off to a forlorn mansion in the middle of a pine forest and Ephraim was given a lord's title and expected to take charge of the people in the village. In all actuality, what that meant is that Ephraim was sent off to an island of an estate in a expansive forest where the villagers did not require his assistance and he could keep up appearances as a family member worthy of his name with out embarrassing anyone. Visitors were not permitted and his brothers were very clear that little Ephriam was not to go around wearing the family name proudly nor that he was to conduct his lordly matters face to face with anyone other then the villagers (who were aware of the situation). This was a tense situation that could embitter any man however, Ephriam is not any man.
Growing up in the midst of nature with little to no responsibility and all the luxury of the hardest worker, Ephriam was able to pursue any and all of his whims with out a care in the world. As long as he didn't embarrass his brothers or do anything too brash he was free to anything he wanted-and anything is exactly what he did. Ephraims flights of fancy ranged all the way from archery to crocheting and now, as a young gentle man he has settled on the not so whole some arts of witch craft, anatomy, and anthropolgy. On the surface he appears to be a bumbling dandy in a cloak too fine for his skin however apart from his fascinating ramblings on races he's only ever seen in his cabinet of curios, Ephriam's nights are filled with digging up graves, dissecting bodies, and learning how to cook a chicken with a few magic words.

A dandy through and through, Ephriam truly is a bumbly and niave young man. Although wisdom is not something he is known for, he is more then able to keep a secret and is good at navigating the world using an almost endless fount of charisma that makes him the center of attention in any room he enters. He is not one to manipulate others with out reason but he is exceptionally good at getting what he wants through a few kind words and generous promises. To most he's the perfect caricature of a foolish old man who's too loose with his coin purse but his fascination with heresy and inhibition towards risk taking shows that he's not as harmless as he looks.
-Has a cabinet of curios, some he dug up from the local crypts himself others he bought like a good anthropologist.
-Has written a few books, nothing anyone takes seriously but it's enough to make him enough income so that he feels accomplished with himself.
-Appleton is not his real family name but his family is known for lording over many towns similar to his. His town is known for their lumber industry and is filled with tight lipped individuals who live hundreds of meters away from each other/value their privacy. The perfect place for a noble to get lost.
-Can successfully do witch craft however most of it is just parlor tricks, he thirsts for some Real Knowledge of the mystic arts but is too chicken to acquire any actual books on it.
-Basically a trust fund manlet tbh, useless at everything except for being cute
-squeamish AF but he can cut open a corpse like a present on christmas
