Of all the siblings he's been forced to interact with, Zedgest loathes Ziazel perhaps the most. His lazy little brother, without clear ambitions and wasting his potential, suddenly jumped from low in the rankings all the way up to the 36th spot. Not to mention earning their father's attention? Zedgest felt personally slighted. To this day, he can't figure out how Ziazel accomplished it, unable to wrap his head around the idea that he's simply that strong.
What a joke. Zedgest is to Ziazel what a toy mouse is to a cat. Forgettable, amusing for a few moments, and otherwise utterly unremarkable. He finds Zedgest's suffering endlessly funny and only really acknowledges him these days because of the unfortunate business with Preene. Why hasn't Ziazel killed him yet? Honestly, he just doesn't care enough about his existence.
Zedgest's feelings towards women are especially evident with Shira. She represents everything he finds disdainful about women- their lasciviousness, their sexuality, their vanity -while also starkly contradicting them. ( Shira is, after all, neither weak, nor desperate, nor in any way encumbered by dependence on men. ) That she holds a higher ranking than him is a source of endless rage. He takes any opportunity to belittle her or somehow be a thorn in her side. It's kind of pathetic.
A true embarrassment. He hasn't seemed to grasp that if he pulls any of his petty nonsense in a setting where Shira is not obligated to politeness, he's going to die.
How dare this brat think he has the right to dictate Zedgest's ability to enter the Palaces of Hell?! ( Never mind that Jornunandi is his elder brother... ) One day, he intends to put this boy in his place.
...Who?
He fully intends to reap a most horrible revenge on this man.
He sure was annoying to deal with.
A mortal, controlling HIM? As if he were a dog to be called and dismissed at his whim? Preposterous. Humiliating. Inconceivable. But more than that, the idea that a mortal could have more skill with a contract than HIM is simply... it's just not possible! ( He'll get around to hating Preene in a few centuries, once he's grasped the idea that he's been outmatched. For now it's just a simmering resentment. )
Another day, another contract. This guy doesn't even rank among the daemons Preene has contracted with, but he's not useless. There are some specific things he's quite capable with, though none of them involve combat. Preene has a feeling he's liable to get himself offed, though, so he'll make use of him as best he can for the time being.
