my ideas:

- didnt took part in fights, from easily falling sick, but became an artist/sculpt in Scarlet's palace
Their mother was Flicker, SkyWing scout, who gave up them as an egg to Scarlet, since she broke the "law" by having kid with someone who wasn't her "mate" and a non-SkyWing. Queen kept the dragonet around, despite them being an obvious hybrid, mostly because they were part-NightWing, which was "thrilling" and they might had special NightWing powers! Or at least be a "trading token" for Burn, if they misbehave or the SandWing princess promise to give Scarlet something more after the War if she get the hybrid as a "gift".
If only they were.. strong. Sadly, Phoenix easily gets sick and their fire breath is pathetic. The good thing was that, they had a NightWing after all, no one knew what they could do. And Scarlet believed they will get some powers when they fully grow up. That was probably the only reason she keps them. This didn't stopped her from "teasing" them with "Do this and that, or I will send you to the arena / as a gift for Burn".
Eventually after Ruby became a Queen, she took pity on Phoenix (she did know them after all, but was chill with their hybrid-ness) and allowed them to leave the kingdom and take care. They hesitated, but eventually left, after learning that their mom is indeed dead and they could at least find their dad. They live on making statues and writing poems (they do that also as a coping mechanism from all that shit endured from Scarlet).
They have four siblings: Killewhale (through Zodiac, older SeaNight hybrid), Starpool (through Zodiac, younger SeaNight hybrid), Sparrow (through Flicker, younger SkyWing) and Falcon (through Flicker, younger SkyWing)
