Hector is part of my sci-fi AU of The Illiad, the epic poem by Homer. Credits to bardic collective, I guess?
TL;DR: An amnesiac who woke up in a prison on a space ship. He teams up with another amnesiac, Helen, loose on the ship, to go out into the galaxy and find out who they are, and not get captured by each side of the war they are caught in the middle of.
✦ Personality
Hector is a hero is all regards- strong, brave, selfless, tamer of horses, leader of men, yada yada. He cares about his family-- those closest to him are his family-- and he wants to protect what he believes in. He is incredibly selfish, and will ignore any good or just plain obvious advice if he thinks he is doing the right thing-- he's stubborn like that. If things look bad for him, he has no problem running from them.
✦ Appearance
Hector is a light-skinned 6 foot tall man with unruly golden hair and purple eyes. His body, especially his chest and arms, is covered in scars. For a while he wears his red prisoner's uniform, with it partially tied around his waist. Underneath he is wearing his unitard underwear, like Helen's. He gets real clothes eventually.

Hector is a man with no memory- only waking up in a jail cell with an open door, which he took advantage of. Not long after that, he meets a young woman wandering around the halls of the prison-space-ship he's trapped on, a beautiful young woman who's only vaguely sure her name is Helen. Feeling a kinship with another amnesiac, and not wanting to spend any more time on a prison ship that he has to, Helen and Hector make their escape on a small gunship called a Chariot, which, turns out, Hector is really good at driving. Together, they make their way across the galaxy, avoiding the Trojans and the Spartans, two sides locked in battle over a woman- Helen (No relation, I'm sure, his new friend tells him), who rumors say left the king of the Spartans for one of the Trojan princes.
Turns out, Hector is the eldest child of Priam, the leader of the Trojans. He was the general of the military and the certain future king. Until he helped his brother Paris's fiance escape. You know, the one the war was started over. Helen- the original- was miserable with Paris and the fact that people had gone to war over her and Hector was fed up with the whole stupid conflict, so he helped her escape and they, together with a group of heroes from the Spartan side, started a splinter group to end the war themselves. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned. One, Hector got captured and his memories got erases and, two, the Trojans were building a clone of Helen to replace the one they had lost. The cloned Helen had a mind of her own (despite having no memories), though and Paris hadn't even touched her before she was escaping with the now memory-free Hector.
| Helen | Helen was Hector's first human contact after waking up with no memory. Since was she was like him, he latched onto her immediately. They quickly became partners on their quest, and pretty soon he was ready to die for her. She controls some of his more selfish impulses and he knows he can trust her with anything. Haven't decided if they are romantic or not |
Andromache | Andromache was Hector's wife- actually she still is, he just doesn't remember. They were childhood friends and very much in love. She stayed loyal to him the whole time- even leaving the Trojans with him and the original Helen. During their time with the rebels, Hector and Andromache are trying to have a baby. Because they both have ovaries, this is an incredibly labor intensive process that involves genetic mixing in a lab-- doubly difficult when you are part of a secret resistance. The deal was that if one of the embryos ever took, Hector would leave the war. Unfortunately days after he left for the mission that would get him captured and his memories wiped, Andromache discovers that she is pregnant. She begged him up and down not to go on such a dangerous mission. So needless to say that when they re-unite and he doesn't remember her, things are pretty tense. |
