Tough, Independent, Experienced, Authoritative, Stern, Easygoing, Bored

David is often seen as your stereotypical 'tough guy.' David is stuck in a rut in his life, and he's a bit grouchy about it. He's gotten stuck in a daily routine, and he wants to break habit, but he can't because life has become a little mundane for this field cop. He's been on the job so long that he isn't filled with the fervent justice that he used to have.  He's just doing the job, and while he's still a good guy and wants a better world, he's become pessimistic and disillusioned. He's not by-the-book in his actions anymore-- it makes the job easier and sometimes more exciting. However, because of this behavior, he makes his own decisions out on the field, doing what he deems best-- whether that be letting a criminal off the hook or doing something drastic. He has gotten temporarily suspended before because of his actions, and he has also been threatened to be suspended again if he doesn't shape up. His career is hanging by a thread.

backstory

His wife divorced him after having their first kid together. With years of problems in their marriage, she finally broke. David had been getting more agitated because of work and he was constantly flinging himself into danger without a second thought. She didn't want her kid to be raised with a cop as a father- someone who's life was constantly in danger. He used to be a good influence, but now he wasn't so sure. He still gets to visit his kid occasionally.
