Jesse's a grade A asshole. Arrogant, rude, and totally self centered, he isn't one to consider others at all before acting. He views himself as always right, always perfect, and always better than everyone else. He tends to come off as rather cocky and narcissistic when others meet him, he does have a softer side for his plants and his pet. He tends to "playfully" bully others as a joke, except no one else is really in on the joke, so it's only really funny to him. Not that he'd care about how others feel, of course, since he'll happily push others around to get his way. Though an unpleasant personality, he's reliable and diligent when it comes to his projects, and his research is widely respected in biology and entomology spheres.

Jesse and his family grew up on the countryside in a home surrounded by fields, wildflowers, and a sparse covering of trees. Jesse's always taken an interest in plants and how they grow, even dedicating much of his free time as a child to studying their habits and habitats. Jesse and his brother Jodi would walk a long ways to school every morning, but Jesse enjoyed the tranquility and banter that his walks to and from school would bring him. While Jesse was always more interested in how ecosystems worked together to maintain balance, his brother was more interested in the aesthetics of plant life. When it came time for the two of them to move out, Jesse headed off to study and become a botanist, with a minor interest in entomology as well.
Jesse easily landed a job working for a seed company, helping them engineer better crops and, more to his interest, helping them figure out the most fruitful way to grow them. While this wasn't precisely what Jesse had in mind, the pay is good enough for him to be able to do what he loves in his free time. He has a little greenhouse in his backyard where he works to grow rare species of flowers, and he introduces beneficial insects to them in a closed environment to produce the most beautiful and vibrant flowers around. As Jesse is more interested in the process than the result, he'll often sell off flower cuttings to florists to use in their bouquets, though his brother Jodi usually has first pick.
