Biography

Seth is a perfect mix of both fathers; panicky and overbearing like Eddie but chaotic and loud like Richie. Much like how Harper has basically become Bill 2.0 in their version of the Losers Club, Seth has become just like Eddie in regards to how he seems to have the innate ability to detect the possible dangers of any situation seconds after entering a new environment. Hell, they've even picked up Eddie's habit of wearing fanny packs filled with band aids and disinfectants in case any of their idiot friends gets hurt ("Who cares if it isn't in-style, I'm trying to keep you dumbasses from getting gangrene!!"). Seth cares a lot about their friends, even to the point of being annoyingly obsessive over their well being, but their friends have come to accept this over time knowing that it's how they show love. When he isn't freaking out over Toby's scraped knees or keeping his ditzy sister out of trouble, Seth is most likely relaxing at home listening to R&B music or playing with his pet ferret Poppy.

Relationships

Like his sister he's extremely close with both Richie and Eddie, however he's probably closest to Eddie. They're both very alike and Seth has accidentally picked up on a lot of Eddie's quirks, mainly being the overprotective parent of the Losers Club 2.0 and talking with his hands. Although Eddie has done his best to avoid being a helicopter parent (it reminds him too much of his mom) he accidentally does it from time to time, which can stress both of them out. Richie can stress him out too, but that's very rare and only if he's already overwhelmed with other things. Despite that, he and Richie have a good relationship, and Rich does what he can to help when Seth is having trouble focusing in class or studying. While he thinks his dad's jokes are pretty funny, he likes to tease him and say they suck; usually resulting in Richie dramatically falling to the floor and whining for Eddie to come save him from their bully of a son.

Gwen is his older sister but often times Seth feels like she's his younger sister. To them older siblings are supposed to be protective over the younger siblings and keep them out of harm, while on the contrary Gwen is almost always dragging them kicking and screaming into some crazy bullshit. Once, Gwen swung him over her shoulder and raced down a steep hill on his skateboard (just because she could) while the other Losers watched and they were, unsurprisingly, flung into a bunch of bushes. Sure, it was kinda funny to watch (Toby recorded it and edited Mario music over it, of course), but they sure didn't think it was funny at the time when they used up their entire stock of bandages covering up Gwen's scratches. When Gwen isn't pulling him into something they'll surely both regret, they have a very close relationship full of playful teasing and a mutual love of obscure topics (and crushes on their friends). Also, Gwen adores Poppy and is almost always trying to sneak her into their room.

Seth has known Uncle Mike, Uncle Bill, Uncle Stan, Aunt Beverly and Uncle Ben for his entire life. They're like additional parents because of how close they are to his dads, and Seth enjoys a great relationship with all 5 of them. Seth is the closest with Bill, Mike and Stan but especially Stan; he likes Stan's strange humor and finds it funny while everyone else usually finds it confusing (but endearing), and when he needs a break from life he'll often go out birdwatching with Stan and whoever else goes with him (usually Noel). Seth always goes to Mike if he wants to know more about a certain topic, because listening to him talk about it is always more interesting and fun than searching it online. Sometimes Mike will even bring over specific books for him if he knows it's something he's currently interested in, which he always appreciates. Since Seth is a scaredy-cat and not the biggest horror fan, they more often than not read his mystery books instead (and they do actually enjoy his endings, thank you very much).

Even though he has a weird way of showing it, Seth loves each and every one of his friends. He hates being an overbearing mother hen to them all, but he just can't help himself; especially when he knows most of his friends are idiots (I'm looking at YOU, Toby) and that they'll accidentally kill themselves or each other if he and Harper don't step in. Even though he butts heads with Toby a lot and he has to try to keep Noel and Gwen from following in suit, they're his idiots and if he has to be the other braincell in their lives compared to the sole one they share, so be it. Toby likes teasing him because he's easy to fluster, and at those times he's all for the other boy knocking himself out via accidental punch. They get along quite well with Harper and Cosette, and they're all considered the "Team Moms" of the Losers Club 2.0 for different reasons; Seth is the mom who insists you wear a coat even in 80 degree weather, Harper is the mom who scolds you for doing stupid online challenges, and Cosette is the mom who brings everyone snacks. Like his friends, he's very protective over Eileen despite her being a whole month older than him and they share a quiet, comfortable friendship. Seth is also harboring a deep crush on his best friend, Noel. While he hates watching horror movies, he puts on a brave face whenever Noel wants to watch one because he knows how much they love horror. They love seeing Noel happy and Noel gets to watch a horror movie, so it's a fair exchange I suppose.

Trivia

● Here's the shorts I draw on him ● His name is a reference to Seth Green, the actor who played young Richie in the 1990 Miniseries!
● He has heterochromia, with one eye being blue and the other being brown. This is a reference to Eddie having blue eyes in the book and brown eyes in the 2017 movie, and it's shown in my design for Eddie (who has central heterochromia himself).
● Like Richie (and Eddie if we're going off of that scene from Chapter 2), he has ADHD.
● Also like Richie, they have Coulrophobia, the fear of clowns.
● The original fear I had for Seth was Dentophobia, fear of the dentist. In his current draft he still gets anxious about the dentist (referencing my own fears of the dentist) but clowns are what really make him scared.
