Derrek

Derrek is Collins older brother. He was the pride of his father until he got caught in a fishing net several years ago with his best friends Cyrill and Esmera. They were locked in a research facility for several days, where Derrek got badly injured 'for the sake of sience'. The three still managed an escape, but Derrek's injuries won't heal as well as they should. He is hardly able to swim, spends most of the day curled up in his room and has since developed severe depression and anxiety, partly due to the fact that they lost Esmera on their run and have not been able to find her since.

Derrek used to be curious about the human world and liked spending time above ground to look at them. Now he wants nothing to do with them and hates seeing his brother Collin follow the same innocent curiousity he blames for his state and the presumed death of Esmera.
