Brent Hughes (Madder Hatter)

Madder "Angel" Hatter is a protector alter and is typically co-conscious with Brent. He typically fronts when Brent feels attacked, retaliating with aggressive threats and violence. Previously a persecutor alter, Madder has begun to handle his violent tendancies through therapy. He does caligraphy, screen writing, and therapeudic painting in order to work through his own aggression.

Madder also has a fascination with knives, often collecting a wide variety and training in how to use them. He has very precise and steady hands due to him usually being the alter in front when Dr. Baxter was giving dissection lessons. Madder is very skilled at cutting, dicing, and mincing as a result, and sometimes will assist Brent in food prep if he is in front or co-conscious. 

On top of his kitsune based illusion powers, Madder has an additional set of powers known as "The Disappearing Act". They include the ability to leap great distances, camouflage himself like a chameleon, and create large clouds of ink. 

Madder was one of the first alters to appear in Brent's system. Viewing himself as Brent's twin brother, Madder commonly fronted whenever Dr. Baxter forced Brent to do any sort of medical training, both legal and not. As a result, Madder has a very tough exterior and can come across as harsh or uncaring, when in reality he's a bit of a bleeding heart. 

When Brent first met Seok, Madder was very untrusting of the kitsune, believing him to be a threat to Brent and the system as a whole. It was only after Madder confronted Seok that the truth of who Brent was came out. Even so, Madder didn't fully trust Seok, but agreed to his plan of helping Brent escape because he knew the situation surrounding Baxter was growing desperate. 

Since then, Madder and Seok have made amends, as Madder realizes that Seok is very trustworthy and would do nothing to harm Madder. Madder assists in making decorations and artwork to spice up the walls in the bakery when he can. He also acts as a chef on occasion, but he's nowhere near as skilled a cook as Brent.
