Hardworking

Magnolia didn't obtain Head Servant for nothing. She easily works herself more than the other servants in the Manor and hardly finds time for herself. Rowan actively has to tell her to stop working so hard or she'll collapse. She, however, takes her job seriously and doesn't find much merit in taking days off. The manor is large and needs someone to constantly tidy up everything, make meals occasionally and stock up on groceries. Magnolia does her job and does it well.

Reliable

Have a task for her? She can happily get it done and get it done in an efficient and quick manner. It's not uncommon for older maids to ask her to do something as she'd get it done within a good amount of time or has already thought about doing it.

Light-Hearted

Although she may seem stiff and doll-like, Magnolia really is a happy person. She's less so of the 'carefree' aspect of the trait and more so of the cheerful. It may not outwardly show as well as she may want it to but occasionally she'll show someone the gentlest and most genuine of smiles.

Non-confrontational

Magnolia isn't the type to argue or fight. She'll usually just say whoever is arguing with her that they're right and let them crash and burn when they do it incorrectly or say something incorrectly. This is only because she doesn't like to fight or argue with anyone no matter who it is.

Reticent

She doesn't exactly tell people or wish to show them how she actually feels. Magnolia will look as though she has something to say but will not say it if she thinks it's out of her place to say such.

Self-destructive

With her being a workaholic, she sometimes forgets to do basic things that she should be doing or she doesn't spend as much time doing things that she needs to do in order to live. This includes eating and sleeping, mostly. She knows it's bad but if it keeps the manor in a state of beauty, then she'll sabotage herself. This trait also affects her relationships in some form.

Stats

1-10 YEARS

Magnolia found herself without a mother. All she knew was her father, Raphael Desrosiers and her older brother of seven years, Jacques Desrosiers along with the poverty of a commoner family. Her father always told her that she was the striking image of her mother but there was no reference that she could compare to. She was taken care of mainly by her brother, who felt as though it wasn't his responsibility to take care of her and felt as though it was her fault that their mother, Cecilia, died. The family was somewhat dysfunctional, especially in the earlier years where she was able to do simple tasks around the house and her older brother wasn't the kind to help around the house when he needed to, leaving her to do all of the work that needed to be done.

10-14 YEARS

From the age of ten, she was already doing things around the house and picking up after both her father and brother just because she had once seen her father do these things for the kids. He had become tired and more irritable the more she grew up, saying that she looked more and more like her mother every day. She didn’t know it at the time but the father, too, was still mourning and the reminder of what could have been there was stuck in his mind. The next four years was filled with an angry and alcoholic father who would outwardly blame her, yell at her for the things she was doing wrong and it appeared that whatever control he had over his life was diminishing. They could have been a family, a real one if she hadn’t been a difficult delivery. The brother who was seven years older than her would at least attempt to stop the beast but still overall took their father’s side in things. In her own household, Magnolia didn’t feel welcome. By her own father, she was kicked out. Whatever little belongings she had was placed in a bag and given to her, she now not knowing what to do. There was a period of time where she would sit there and beg or sit on the streets and look pitiful but other than her friends, she didn’t know who to go to. Magnolia was hardly verbal and when she did talk, it was only to offer her services in exchange for food or a bath or just a room to be in for the night.

15-20 YEARS

Magnolia was found by another woman and a man on the streets, a woman that looked to be a servant for a nobleman along with the nobleman she served and was immediately pitied, taken in and bathed. This woman introduced herself as Head Servant Zara Couture, employed at the Delacroix Manor. Magnolia had been clothed and taken to the man from earlier, the Duke himself, Rowan Delacroix. She was pushed to offer her services to the Duke and felt as though this may have been her last shot at being safe and secure within a house. To her amazement, he agreed hesitantly and directed Zara to give her maid's clothing. After that, she was taught the ways of the Manor and told what to do. After a year, she hardly needed to be told anymore and was one of the most hardworking servants in the house, garnering some admiration and a small bit of hate for it. She found herself rising in rank rapidly, from Dairy Maid to Nursemaid, Laundry Maid to Cook Maid. Cook Maid to Housemaid and to Head Nurse. This rapid progression caught the attention of Monsieur Delacroix.

20-21 YEARS

Magnolia was high enough in rank to be let in on a secret of the house, that Rowan was a vampire and he had been alive since the beginning of the 13th century. She didn't quite believe him at first, thinking that it may have been a joke about his spectacular amount of beauty but she was shown first-hand that none of what he stated was a joke. She saw his fangs, she experienced what powers he had and she was scared. Scared and convinced. Rowan coaxed her into relaxing just a bit and told her that he understood that he is a scary being, one who has more power than he should and one who wasn't cruel like the rest of them. She believed him. Magnolia was told that she would be seeing more of him, she doubted that until she found that her duties picking up the slack from others would lead her to him.

22 YEARS

She found her love of piano from hearing Rowan play and every time he played, it sounded melancholic, like there was something deep down within him that he wanted to get out. On one of the days that she eavesdropped on him, he called out to her despite not making a single sound. He knew it was her from her scent alone and said it was distracting. She apologized profusely and he decided to let her apologize by letting him drink from her. Magnolia was hesitant to say yes, Rowan reassuring her that he wouldn't do it if she said 'no'. Despite that, she agreed. To say it felt euphoric would be an understatement, it nearly felt...like she was bonding with him. It was gentle and painless, without discomfort or anything negative. She figured this was what the Catholic Church meant by temptation. She passed out soon after he drank from her and woke up his the Duke's quarters, making sure not to cause a scene by walking out of there.

23 YEARS

She became Rowan's go-to when it came to human blood and through that, learned a little bit more of each other. Whereas Rowan knows pretty much everything about her, she still hardly knows much about him. He began to teach her how to play the piano during the darkest hours of the night but she still remained loyal to her duties around the manor. Zara eventually handed over the Head Servant title onto Magnolia and retired. Now, Magnolia is keen on doing her duties while also hoping Rowan won't just kick her out like her father did. Without this, without the manor, without the feeling of being needed, she had nothing and no one else.

She keeps a Silver Rosary on her at all times to keep her faith in some form.

Because Rowan's blood is the 'parent blood', if he gives an order, she is compelled to follow it. This comes with being a kindred's turned. She has specifically requested him not to do this whenever possible.
