About

(A one-off roleplay character for a series set in the Potterverse that never took off. I had a sudden desire to draw her, which means she'll get a nice profile to match. Note: The roleplay was never supposed to have been super-canon, and I'll probably write some of the issues, such as her family being from Russian-Karelia but retaining finnish names, down on wizards' inability to keep track of muggle politics.)

Sannas' early childhood was spent "somewhere in Karelia", in an area that fell under Durmstrangs' administration when it came to studying magic. She'd been too young to quite understand the motives for her familys' sudden emigration to Great Britain but as the girl grew older she started suspecting that the reasoning might've had something to do with her apparent lack of magic, for even during The Great Wizarding War the UK was apparently a more accepting place to raise a squib in. Nowadays she retains only a few memories of her childhood home, but has taken to England like a fish to water.

She's been lucky enough to be raised in a loving family that has sheltered her to the best of their ability from the disdain exhibited towards squibs. The girl nonetheless hopes that her apparent lack of magic was a mistake and that one day her letter to Hogwarts will arrive. Her father tries his best to ensure that Sanna is informed of any magical jobs that require no skill in witchcraft, and that she gets exposed to the muggle culture enough to integrate into it were she to choose to leave the wizarding world behind as she gets older. Nonetheless, at her current age gaining knowledge on magic and getting into Hogwarts are Sannas' driving motivations that she pursues with youthful recklessness, from ingesting experimental potions to causing a ruckus at Ollivanders'.

  • Her english is good, but she does retain a slight accent, as well as botching idioms and skipping pronouns on increasingly rare occasions.
  • Sannas' older relatives have an extremely annoying habit of switching to complicated Russian when discussing "adult topics", such as The Wizarding War or matters in Karelia.
  • Sannas' last name has been mispronounced so often that she now legitimately believes that it's supposed to sound like "eyes-o-tallow" and her parents are the real ones "saying it weird".

Other family members
Mother, father. One uncle who brews butterbeer in Hogsmead. A cousin who got kicked out of Hogwarts on his seventh year, but no-one talks about why.

Erkki Isotalo ( brother )
Goes by "Eric". Sixth year Hogwarts student. Plays quidditch for the Ravenclaw team. Your typical post-Marauders charismatic troublemaker who's barely home.

DdcuTpl.png

Timo Isotalo ( brother )
A graduated hermit who barely leaves his room. Has no other hobbies besides potions. Doesn't bother with Sanna much, apart from occasionally secretly using her as a guinea pig for his concoctions claiming that they "might give her magic powers". He may be genuinely trying to "fix" her but so far it's only earned her a trip to St. Mungos.

Sally Isotalo ( sister )
Youngest sibling. A toddler who already exhibits the occasional outburst of involuntary magic. Sanna is often stuck babysitting her, and her younger sibling has already gotten into two magical incidents - one messing with her hair saturation, the other giving her a scar on her face. Both could possibly be fixed through professional medical magic, in due time.

Gollum II ( a pet )
A small, green toad. Gollum I was received as a gift in lieu of an owl, and had died quite quickly, after she'd let it roam around without supervision too much. Gollum II was received as a consolation present from Timo, who'd not caught on that she'd not liked the first toad much to begin with.
