Beatrice Magnus is a 25 year old girl that joins Levi's Special Operation squad after Hange's suggestion. Born and raised in a city inside Wall Sina, she appears as a cheerful and energetic girl. Her hyperactivity derives from the fact that she remained paralyzed in bed for more than 15 years due to her illness. After that, thanks to the miraculous cures of Grisha Jaegar, she manages to get out of it and starts to use her body and legs as much as she can. Sometimes she even forgets to eat and sleep and ends up fainting on the training ground.
Because of her illness, books were her only hobby. She read everything from novels to scientific books. She immediately showed advanced skills in maths, which will be useful for 3DMG training. In these situations she's able to make quick calculations to predict or intuit her or the enemy's movements.
This passion for books also leads her to be an incurable romantic and dreamer. As she stayed in bed she began to dream of doing so many things described within them: riding, flying and running on the thing called "beach".
Because she never had real friends, for Beatrice it's difficult to empathize and read the atmosphere: everything she knows was learned from books, and sometimes this causes embarrassing or even ridiculous situations.
After a few years of recovery and rehabilitation, she choses the Survey Corps for the main desire to "vent" her anger and accumulated energy against Titans. This motivation will actually be the main force dragging her to become one of the best of her generation, reason why she enters Levi's squad.
She immediately demonstrates a disposition for the 3DMG, and she masters it in no time mostly because of the time spent practicing.
She often tells the other squad members that they're "morons", even when there is no real reason for that, mostly because she respects them and remains disappointed when they fail her expectations.
She feels indebted to Eren's father for healing her and for this reason she will sometimes risk her life to defend him.
Despite the cheerful personality, Beatrice also has her moments of despair, especially when her companions are devoured by the Titans. She feels a profound resentment towards those beasts above all because they have taken away the possibility of freedod from mankind.
When Beatrice loses control over her anger, she becomes her total opposite and her personality shifts very close to that of Levi. Few, however, have had the chance to see it.
Beatrice is very sensitive to hierarchies. She finds herself very uncomfortable and anxious in front of particularly important figures. When she was in front of Erwin for the first time, she couldn't say a single word at first, she started sweating and stuttering. Even with Levi, at the beginning she was very detached and used many formal appellations, especially when she realized she was in love with him.
Her appearance is astoundingly similar to Isabel Magnolia, an old Levi's friend fallen in battle: green eyes, red hair and pale skin. If they're actually related somehow is yet unknown.
- I wanted her to be VERY similar to Isabel for plot reasons.

- The name Beatrice is after Dante's Inferno's character. It means "she who makes happy" in latin.
Magnus means "great", and later on I discovered it starts with the same suffix from Magnolia lol It was totally random - The scar on her cheek comes from when she was younger: her frustration lead her to accidentally hurt herself, scratching herself with her nails deeply inside the flesh. It's a reminder of her years spent doing absolutely nothing for herself or humanity.
- She's a genius in mathmatics and physics given her years spent reading any type of books. She seems to be a natural for scientific subjects.
