Argyle

Whenever Argyle is out and about, he seems extremely nervous. Everything is overwhelming and he doesn’t quite understand how everything works. When not on stage, Argyle is kind of like a deer in the headlights when it comes to much of urban living. As such, he tends to keep to himself and far away from much of society.

Unfortunately, Argyle isn’t super in tune with social norms. He commonly doesn’t think before he speaks, and when he does he’s not fully aware of the ramifications of his actions. This leaves him in a lot of social trouble that stresses him out. Almost no one explains what he’s done wrong, either, so he exists in a paranoid bubble of trying not to step on any toes.

Argyle has had a rough life, so he’s full of a lot of anger inside. It’s difficult for him to find healthy outlets for the rage he feels - aside from when he drums his heart out onstage, of course. This often manifests in him breaking things (but never people), and Argyle has no idea how to go about accepting help from people to deal with all this crap.

Of course, all of the things going around in Argyle’s head means that he has a very unique way of perceiving the world. He is the type who thinks outside the box almost all the time. What may seem illogical to someone else makes perfect sense to him and often has exceptionally good results.

Argyle has an absolutely abysmal memory. He keeps like 20 different planners and has post it notes everywhere in order to remind himself of things he wants to keep track of. If he relied solely on his memory, he would forget everything within 30 seconds, remembering things only when it’s far too late to do anything about it.

Argyle began his existence as a carved gargoyle who watched over a church from the early years of the Golden Isles. As he was a rock, he has no memory of this time, nor can he make any judgements about this time.

No, Argyles memory begins when the ringox Christine participated in a forbidden ritual that brought him to life - real life, made of skin and flesh and things like that. He barely had a moment to exist peacefully before she had his gemstone faceted and enslaved him as a bodyguard. He wasn’t even given a name, simply called “rock boy.”

Along with keeping Christine safe, Argyle was often found carrying out life threatening missions and participating in gladiatorial matches for her amusement. He faced death many times whenever she felt like having fun at his expense.

This went on for many years until, with the help of someone anonymous, Argyle managed to escape her clutches and run far, far away. He travelled for a long, long time until one day he stumbled upon Styx and xer band.

Styx was quite kind to Argyle. He helped him pick a name, learn to read, and understand how kind people actually are. Argyle grew very attached to Styx as a friend and was very intrigued by the band he was putting together. At that point, the band had lost their previous drummer due to disagreements.

After some experimenting, it turned out that Argyle was quite good at playing the drums and was made part of the band. People loved him - he was both attractive and really good at what he did.

Ever since then, Argyle has been well received by the people and has been slowly adapting to being a real person in a real society. It’s slow going, but with the help of Argyle’s new friends he’s working on it.
