Ver Haxon

Ver Haxon is one of the four Divines, the creators of everything that ever existed and powers above all else. Or, she was for about 3 days. Then her 3 colleagues collectively got tired of her shit and threw her out. Life has continued to go downhill from here.

After being cast out of her Divine position, she lived under another name for a long time. Her exploits during this period could be listed for hours but they're exploits for another time. As far as Ver is concerned, everything done before she adopted her current name wasn't done by her. Eventually her past self got tired of life on the run and struck a deal with someone who seemed very trustworthy at the time. Her memories were wiped and stored in a special cube, a sort of proto-USB if you will.

Unfortunately the totally trustworthy wizard was in fact a total skeevy bastard, running off with the USB cube and leaving a mindless and memoryless Ver alone to die. Then, for the first time in her life but surprisingly not the only time, she died. She managed to remain dead for a few hundred years, a still standing record, when the universe decided that the world needed a god. The universe isn't very smart however so it decided the one for the job was Ver, ressurecting her and throwing her down to the world of the living. Both Ver and a man rummaging through the garbage cans were very surprised when she awoke totally naked in an alleyway in Southern California

A fully clothed Ver left the alley, alone. It took her a long time to get her bearings, not knowing who she was or how anything worked. Eventually she bumped into a man named Clancy Horowitz, a man she would've known if she had any concept of what a television is. He seemed to see something in Ver, taking her under his wing as some sort of protégé. With the help of Horowitz, she started working as a detective, something she seemed to naturally excell at. It was through this job that she accidentally got involved with the supernatural, getting wrapped up in a seemingly normal case that quickly devolved into a tense sewer fight with a werewolf. After this she started focusing only on supernatural cases, meeting and becoming quick friends with shapeshifting assassin Shifter.

Over time, Horowitz began to show more and more interest in Ver. His interest really began to increase when Ver started to discover that she herself had some less than natural powers. Shifter tried to urge Ver to cut ties with Horowitz but she refused, claiming that she owed everything to him. Tensions between Horowitz and Shifter reached their boiling point when Ver was permenantly wounded during a job, her left arm severed and her left eye gouged. Shifter found documents on the corpse of her attacker that implied Horowitz had hired the attacker to come after Ver.

After a wounded Ver was taken home, Shifter outright accused Horowitz. He didn't try to defend himself from them, instead admitting to it all. After threatening Shifter, he left with an unconcious Ver.

Nobody really knows what happened in the following 6 months. Shifter tried everything they could to get Ver back but they got nowhere. Eventually, on May 19th 2016, Horowitz was found brutally murdered in his own home, his skull shattered by a wrench. The case was not investigated and, in a completely unrelated accident, the house was burned to the ground 2 days later.

Ver remained missing for a few more months, eventually returning home with a new robotic arm that she'd constructed herself. After considering retirement, she decided to get back to what she knew best and continued fighting the supernatural.
